2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, but answers were vague. Information seems unreliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. T/O & E and Strength:
(As of 8 Sep 50)
13th Div composed of 19th, 21st and 23rd (Code SAN GAK SAN) Inf Regts and other elements.
Each Inf Regt composed of 3c Inf Bns, each Bn composed of 3 x Inf Co’s. Each Inf Co composed of 4 x Inf Platoons. Each Inf Plat composed of 4 x squads.
3rd Company
a. Personnel
(1) 3 Rifle Platoons
(2) 1 HMG Platoon
(3) Total of 150 men
b. Equipment and Ammo
(1) M1 Rifles (100 rds per man)
(2) 2 x HMGs

b. Location and Activities of Units:
PW stated that about 200 men gathered on a mountain approx 45 km E of TAEGU on 19 Sep 50. They were the members of 23rd Regt.
Most of these ran away from the area because of US shelling.

c. Personal & Unit History:
Inducted on 8 Mar 50 at SINUIJU. Received training as rifleman at SINUIJU for months. 23rd Regt departed SINUIJU on 18 Jun 50 by train and arrived at NAMCHON 20 Jun 50. Departed NAMCHON on 21 Jun 50 and marched to NAKTON NI. Dato of arrival unknown.
The Regt crossed the NAKTONG River from NAKTON-NI on 6 Aug 50.
PW was hospitalized at an army hospital located in YONGJU for about 20 days because of a shrapnel wound.
After being discharged from the hospital, PW with 10 other men rejoined their Bn on 19 Sep 50.
PW and 5 others were separated from the unit by artillery fire and surrendered to US troops in vicinity of TABU-DONG on 23 Sep 50.

e. Food & Ammo Supplies:
After crossing the NAKTONG RIVER on 6 Aug 50, PW ate food irregularly; on one occasion did not eat for 3 days.
PW received one issue of 100 rds of small arms ammo when he crossed the 38th parallel

f. Morale:
The morale of the 1st Bn was low. The reasons were, lack of food and equipment, and heavy losses of experienced men.
