2. ASSESSMENT:
PW cooperative, seems very intelligent. Remembered places and dates very well. Other information limited because of short period of military service. Further interrogation not recommended.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
31 Jul 50 - Inducted into NKPA, SEOUL, at HUNGIN Elementary school (往十里) WANGSIP-NI. 400 men. Received no basic training. 400 men assigned to newly formed 6th Bn of 103rd Security Regt.
2 Aug 50 - 6th Bn departed SEOUL, marched, arrived P’ALDANG (八當) 3 Aug 50. Rested for 12 hours.
3 Aug 50 - Departed P’ALDANG, arrived YANG P’YONG (楊平) 4 Aug 50. No NK troops observed.
4 Aug 50 - Departed YANG P’YONG, arrived WONJU (原州) 6 Aug 50. Observed about a company of NK troops in small village in WONJU. No heavy equipment or tanks observed.
6 Aug 50 - Departed WONJU, arrived SINNIM-NI, 7 Aug 50. Observed about a platoon of NK troops.
7 Aug 50 - 6th Bn departed SINNIM-NI (神林里), arrived 8km E of CHECH’ON, in small village named SONGHAK-NI (松鶴里), Hqs of the 103rd Security Regt located in Primary School. PW observed radio antenna south of school building. About a company of NK troops.
8 Aug 50 - 1st Rifle Co departed CHECHO’ON. destination, CH’UNGJU (忠州) (120 men). 2nd Rifle Co departed CHECH’ON, destination TANYANG (丹陽). HMG Co (60 men). departed CHECH’ON, arrived YONGJU (榮州). Medical Section, Communication Sqd and Security Plt (50 men) also departed CHECH’ON for YONGJU.
12 Aug 50 - HMG Co, Medical Sqd, Communication Sqd and Security Plt departed YONGJU, arrived PAN’GU-RI (盤邱里) 12 Aug 50. HMG Co was ordered to go to NAESONG (乃城) to secure the area. Medical Sqd, Communication Sqd and one platoon of Security Guard went on to YECH’ON.
In NAESONG, PW observed about two (2) Bns of Security troops, two (2) trucks and two (2) jeeps.
13 Aug 50 - HMG Co departed NAESONG, arrived PAPCH’ON-NI (法田里) 14 Aug 50. No NK troops observed.
16 Aug 50 - Departed PAPCHON-NI, arrived CHAESAN (才山) 17 Aug 50.
17 Aug 50 - HMG Co CO decided to travel in the daylight and departed CHAESAN in the morning, arrived TOGYE-DONG (道溪洞) 17 Aug 50. No NK troops in area.
18 Aug 50 - HMG Co departed TOGYE-DONG, arrived SIN’GU-DONG (新邱洞).
19 Aug 50 - HMG Co departed SIN’GU-DONG, arrived CH’ONG-SONG (靑松) 20 Aug 50. Observed about a regiment of NK troops, about ten (10) trucks, three (3) jeeps (Russian type) heading south.
20 Aug 50 - HMG Co departed CH’ONG-SONG, arrived TAEJON-NI (大前里) 21 Aug 50 and made contact with 101st Security Regt Hqs. Observed about 1,000 men there. Observed about 2 company strength of NK Guerrillas heading south, armed with rifles, HMG’s, and mortars.
21 Aug 50 - Departed TAEJON-NI, arrived 7 km SE of KUSAN-DONG (九山洞), 22 Aug 50, and met the 12th Bn of 102rd Security Regt, about 700 men. Observed few mortars, HMG’s. No tanks.
22 Aug 20 - HMG Co departed area, arrived KUSAN-DONG, 22 Aug 50. Observed MK Forces engaged in battle in mountain areas for 3 days.
25 Aug 50 - Hqs of the 6th Bn of 103rd Security Regt sent a truck to KUSAN-DONG and picked up the HMG Co and transported them to ULSONG (義城) to join the 2nd and 3rd Cos of the 6th Bn. PW observed about 20 x 85-mm AT Guns towed by horses and oxen, 15 truck loads of ammunition and about 300 men heading southeast of KUSAN-DONG. They said they were from the 15th Div.
26 Aug 50 - The 6th Bn was attacked by 12 x P-51’s. Many rockets were used in the attack and they also made many strafing runs. Losses were only three (3) ammunition trucks.
26 Aug 50 - Departed UISONG, marched to SINGAN-DONG and took cover in the mountain. Remained in the mountains for a week for training. The 6th Bn of the 103rd Security Regt was issued arms and ammunition. (initial issue).
3 Sep 50 - HMG Co departed SINGAN-DONG, arrived OK CH’ONG-DONG (玉井洞) 3 Sep 50. No NK troops observed.
7 Sep 50 - HMG Co departed OK CH’ON-DONG, arrived YANGGI-DONG, 8 Sep 50.
8 Sep 50 - Returned to SINGAN-DONG (新幹洞), Joined 6th Bn, departed SINGAN-DONG, arrived 5 km W of TAP-NI (踏里) 9 Sep 50. No NK troops observed.
9 Sep 50 - 6th Bn departed TAP-NI, arrived OK CHONG-DONG 10 Sep 50. No troops observed.
16 Sep 50 - Departed OK CH’ONG-DONG, arrived 17 Sep 50, 5 km S of KUSAN-DONG and met the 1st Bn of 103rd Security Regt. Returned to OK CH’ONG-DONG same day (6th Bn only). 12th Bn remained behind.
18 Sep 50 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Hqs Co departed OK CH’ONG-DONG for unknown destination. HMG Co remained behind.
20 Sep 50 - HMG Co departed OK CH’ONG-DONG, arrived YANGCHI-DONG (陽池洞) same day and joined the 6th Bn.
20 Sep 50 - Entire 6th Bn departed YANGCHI-DONG, arrived KUSAN-DONG 21 Sep 50. Engaged in battle with ROK Forces for one hour. 6th Bn of 400 men, 300 killed or wounded, about 80 men deserted, PW and 9 others surrendered on the morning of 22 Sep 50 to ROK troops.

b. Unit Strength 6th Bn:
Original organization and strength - 40C
Last Known Composition - Annihilated.

c. Morale and Propaganda:
Morale was very low because half of the men were farmers from the North who had been forcibly conscripted and the others were from South KOREA who were given no choice.
No leaflets of any kind observed.
Money exchanges between ROK and NK WON was 1 NK WON to 8 ROK WON.
PW was paid 200 NK WON and 1600 ROK WON monthly.
