PW cooperative, but unobservant. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
3 Apr 50 - Inducted at P'YONGYANG. Training consisted of laying telephone wire and installation of field phones for months.
22 May 50 - 76-mm Howitzer Co (86 men) departed PYONGYANG by rail, arriving NAMCH'ONJOM (南川店) 23 May 50.
24 May 50 - PW's unit departed NAMCHONGJOM, marched. 4 × 76-mm Howitzer drawn by horses arrived CHOKKOK-NI (赤谷里) 29 May 50. Further training received at CHOKKOK-NI.
25 Jun 50 - Departed CHOKKOK-NI. 76-mm Howitzer Co (86 men) crossed 38° Parallel and engaged ROK forces at UIJONGBU, SEOUL, SUWON, TAEJON, KUMSAN (錦山), KOCH'ANG (居昌), HYOPCH'ON (陜川) and SINBAN-NI. Crossed the NAKTONG River and entered PUGONG-NI. PW read a Safe Conduct Pass in Sep 50, and decided to surrender to UN Forces. Deserted his unit and hid on a mountain near SINBAN-NI.
20 Sep 50 - When the UN troops crossed NAKTONG River, PW surrendered.

Equipment:
Out of original 4 × 76-mm Howitzer, three (3) destroyed, one (1) damaged.

Communication:
PW's duties in communication squad of Howitzer Co was to lay wire from gun position to observation post. After engagement PW retrieved the wires. Length of wire in one roll is 1500 meters. Telephone is most effective at 1000 meters.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of PW low because he was told that if he didn't enlist in the army his family would not receive any rice rations, and he would be thrown in jail. After being in the service for a month, PW's mother died. PW thought it was from worrying over him. Men in Co made him do errands for them because he was the youngest in the company.
