ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative. Information seems to be reliable but is limited to details about PW’s own company for the most part.

T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF: 105th Armored Div Units.
105th Armored Div composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bns, MG Bn, plus other unidentified units. 2nd Bn composed of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd AT Companies (Btrys). Each company (Btry) composed of 2 platoons and each platoon is composed of 2 sads.

LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS:
Entire 2nd Bn and MG Bn, 849th Unit located in YANGMOK (see place of capture) as of 20 Sep 50, PW believes 2nd AT Bn was annihilated on 21 Sep 50.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted on 19 Jul 50 at P’YONGYANG. Received 1 week of training in close order drill.
Departed from P’YONGYANG o/a 8 Aug 50 by train with approx 250 men plus equipment for one AT Bn. Enroute from P’YONGYANG to KUMCHON (1110-1460), the following places were passed: P’YONGYANG, SEOUL, WONJU, TANYANG, ANDONG, HACH’ANG, SANGJU, arriving KUMCHON o/a 30 Aug.
Proceeded o/a 31 Aug from KUMCHON by truck and arrived o/a 2 Sep 50 at an unidentified village approx 20 km SE of KUMCHON on the KUMCHON-WAEGWAN road. There, PW’s unit of about 250 men was designated the 2nd AT Bn of the 849th Unit, 105th Armored Div, and made contact with the MG Bn of the 849th Unit.
PW proceeded with the 2nd AT Bn and the MG Bn by truck on 19 Sep 50, arriving at YANGMOK on 20 Sep 50. 2nd AT Bn, 849th Unit, was bombed and strafed by aircraft, shelled, then attacked by US Infantry on 21 Sep 50, and thrown into complete confusion. Every officer and man who was not killed or severly wounded deserted his post, abandoning all heavy equipment. PW and 4 other men from the 3rd Co, 2nd AT Bn, 849th Unit, went forward and surrendered to US 24th Div at 211000 K Sep 50.

REPLACEMENTS:
Never received any replacements for 2nd AT Bn, 849th Unit, 105th Armored Div as of 21 Sep 50.

FOOD & AMMO SUPPLIES:
No supplies had ever been delivered to 2nd AT Bn, 849th Unit as of 21 Sep 50. Personnel subsisted on whatever food could be confiscated from South Korean civilians in areas “liberated” by the NKPA.

MORALE:
Morale in 2nd AT Bn, 849th Unit was high until the battalion was attacked on 21 Sep 50. PW believes that the morale of any personnel who survived the attack must be dangerously low.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
When PW surrendered at 211000 K Sep 50, he brought a Safe Conduct Pass which he had picked up about 8 km Northwest of YANGMOK on 19 Sep 50. At the same time he picked up a leaflet telling of the UN landing at INCHON.
