PW seemed to be below average intelligence. He was cooperative, but appeared to be frightened.
Length of service - 7 months.
3. MILITARY HISTORY:Inducted on 1 Feb 50 at MUSAN (茂山) and attached to the 7th Div, 2nd Inf Regt, 3rd Bn.
4. MOVEMENT OF UNIT:The 3rd Bn was advance party for the 7th Div. The 3rd Bn left MUSAN (茂山) on 5 Jul 50 and arrived at SEOUL on 6 Jul 50. Movement was by rail. Then the unit left SEOUL on 19 Aug 50 and marched to SUWON (水原) arriving on 21 Aug 50. The unit left SUWON the same day and marched to CHOCHI WON (鳥致院), 100 Km S of SEOUL, arriving on 23 Aug 50.
PW was hospitalized at CHOCHI WON (鳥致院), therefore he did not know subsequent movement of this unit.
Objective: The objective of the 3rd Bn was MASAN (馬山).
Circumstance of Capture: PW escaped from hospital and headed for his home. On the way home he became lost and surrendered himself to UN Forces at NAMYANG (南陽).
5. CODE NUMBER:Code number of 7th Div was “7131”.
6. MORALE:Morale of 7th Div was very low because they were forcibly recruited.
