Evaluation:
Subject seemed sincere and cooperative but is believed to be in error on the unit designation. Information other than designations, reliable. Subject says that none of the 7th Div units went as far south as KOSONG and T’ONGYONG.
The previously reported elements o! the 7th Div, which were reported in the KOSONG and T’ONGYONG Area are possibly the troops which left the 3rd Regt at SUWON (See Personal and Unit History).

Personal and Unit History:
Entered 7th Div, 3rd Regt on 16 Feb 50 at KANGWON-DO, YONCH’ON-GUN, YONCH'ON-MYON. The entire 7th Div was located in YONCH’ON-GUN until 27 Jun 50, at which time it crossed the 38° Parallel and advanced to the south. The Div designation was 7th Div, Code No 250, APO 1860. The arbitrary numbers for the Regts was 1st Regt, 2nd Regt, 3rd Regt. The 3rd Regt was called the 789 Unit. PW insists that the number 789 was the APO number for the 3rd Regt. Subject says the 3rd Regt was also called the 51st Regt and that this is the code.
(IN: in regards to designation: The number 250 is believed to be in error. The number 1860 is the Regt’s APO number and that the Regt’s number is 51. Result 7th Div, 51st Regt (Code 789, APO 1860). As of Mar 50, PW thinks Ulat the 7th Div Hqs was at YONCH’ON and that the 1st Regt "as being utilized as Div CP guards. PW's unit, the 3rd Regt, it was located at PAEKHWA-MYON (백화면))
The 3rd Regt crossed the 38° Parallel 27 1300K Jun 50 and reached UIJONGBU about midnight. About 29 1000K Jun 50, the 3rd Regt then left UIJONGBU and marched back to YONCH'ON arriving about 29 1900K Aug 50. The Regt stopped there all night and departed about 30 0500K Jun 50, for KAESONG. The unit reached KAESONG about 1 0300 Jul 50. The 3rd Regt remained there for 3 days. PW heard that the 1st and 2nd Regt and the Div Hqs had already passed thru KAESONG by rail and was heading south. The 3rd Regt left KAESONG by rail about 3 1800K Aug 50, and rode south to SUWON, detraining 4 0500 Jul 50. The Regt remained there for 6 days. During this time, about half of the regt’s strength (only men who had adaptability and field training) were sent to the front lines. The area and even the direction these troops went is unknown. However, the men were replaced by S. Korean conscripts "volunteers" (義勇隊). The Regt boarded a train about 7 2300K Jul 50, and moved south, detraining at CH'ONAN about 8 1000K Jul 50. 9 1800K Jul 50, departed CH'ONAN and marched south via. KONGJU, NONSAN, CHONGJU, KWANGJU, SUNCH’ON, to CHINJU arriving about 13 0500K Aug 50. The 3rd Regt joined the 7th Div at this point. PW has no idea what route the 7th Div Hqs and the 1st and 2nd Regts followed, however, they were in CHINJU when 3rd Regt arrived.
The whole Div remained here for 9 days. It left CHINJU 21 1900K Aug 50 and marched NE to UIRYONG and then SW to CHUNGAM-NI on 24 Aug 50. The 7th Div Hqs was set up at CHUNGAM-NI with 1st Regt as Div CP Guards, 2nd Regt was to the left and 3rd Regt to the rlght of the Div Hqs. The Div then issued ammunition and rice to the men and made ready for an attack on PUSAN which was to be taken by 30 Aug 50. The Div was still in this position as of 28 Aug 50, at which time it made first contact with US Forces and PW surrendered.
