Military History:
Inducted 5 Jul 50 at SAKCHU-GUN, SAKCHU-MYON with 2,000 others. Left SAKCHU-MYON 6 Jul 50 by train (train moved at night only) arrived l3 Jul 50 WONJU. Left WONJU 14 Jul 50 by train for SEOUL arrived 16 Jul 50. Left SEOUL 16 Jul 50, by train - arrived MUNCH’ONG 18 Jul 50. Left HONGCHON 19 Jul 50, marched. by night arriving CHIMBO 22 Jul 50. Left CHIMBO 22 Jul 50, marched by night. arrived KIGYE 26 Jul 50. 26 Jul 50 until taken prisoner PW’s unit was on hill 602 KIGYE.

T/O & E of PW’s Unit:
Sqd - 11 troops, 1 DP LMG, 3 - 47 round drum magazines, 10 M-1 rifles between 50 to 60 rounds per rifle.
3 rifle sqds and 1 HMG Sqd in plt - 40 men, 3 x DP LMG, 40 x rifles (M-l rifles, carbines, M1891/30 rifles and Jap M-99 rifles).
3 rifle pits and 1 Him plt. in compatly about 140 troops. 1 x HMG, 600 rounds of ammo; 9 x DP LMG, 3 - 4 7 round magazines, rifles U-1; US carbines, M1891/30, Jap M-99. Sqd leaders had 2 hand grenades(Pvts none).
3 x rifle companies and 1 x HMG company in Ind Bn Guard, 420 men.

Present Strength of Above Unit:
150 officers and men (270 troops wounded of killed as of 15 Aug 50).

Food & Ammo Supply:
The troops lived off the land. The troops received no ammunition since departing NONCHONG 19 Jul 50.

Capability of Unit:
Morale: The troops of the Ind Bn have a very low morale for the following reasons: lack of training, lack of food, fatigue and aircraft attacks. They are able to fight because of discipline.
Replacements: Unit received no replacements. Wounded troops were evacuated to the rear until the Bn was encircled on 15 Aug 50. The PW saw a NK sqd ldr kill wounded troops under his command (name unknown).
Captured equipment: The Ind Bn is partially armed with captured US M-1 rifles and carbines.

Enemy Intentions:
The troops were ordered to fight to the end. Asst Company commander told the troops that RUSSIA will give the NK Army 30,000 planes.
