Military History:
Inducted 19 Jul 50, SINUIJU.
Received no training.
Tactical Movements:
Departed SINUIJU 26 Jul 50 by rail - arrived SEOUL o/a 9 Aug 50 via PYONGYANG with about 1,000 other replacements. Marched to former primary school about 1,000 meters NW of SEOUL RR station - ate at the school.
Departed SEOUL o/a 9 Aug 50 by rail - arrived at tunnel (location unknown) on SEOUL-WONJU RR line and debarked from train inside tunnel o/a 12 Aug 50.
Departed tunnel o/a 13 Aug 50 - marched - arrived WONJU (原州) o/a 15 Aug 50 - having spent nights inside tunnels on SEOUL-WONJU RR line.
Departed WONJU o/a 15 Aug 50 - marched - arrived HAMCH’ANG o/a 19 Aug 50. Joined 1st Div at HAMCH’ANG.
Departed HAMCH’ANG o/a 19 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KUNWI (軍威) o/a 21 Aug 50. Div engaged ROK troops enroute.
Departed KUNWI attacking ROK unite o/a 23 Aug 50 - arrived about 4 mi SE of KUNWI 25 Aug 50.
27 Aug 50, PW and 3 other EM went looking for vegetables in the field at the foot of the hill where their bn was located. They planned to take vegetables back to their plt, but ROK soldiers entered the field while PW was picking beans. 2 of the 4 EM escaped but PW and another EM surrendered immediately.

Weapons and Personnel:
2nd Bn about 300 men - 26 Aug 50. 3 x 14.5 mm AT rifles in AT plt and one PPsh submchine gun. No other weapons in AT plt. AT plt had approx 150 x 14.5mm rounds. 2 x MAXIM HMG’s in MG Co. Losses: 2nd Bn, approx 300 men, 2 x 14.5 mm AT rifles. PW heard that unknown number of replacements and equipment reached 1st Div sometime between 16 Aug 50 and 23 Aug 50, but he saw none.

Armor:
Observed 2 x tanks (type unk) o/a 20 Aug 50. The tanks were on a road about ½ way between HAMCH’ANG and KUNWI.

Artillery:
Observed no artillery, but saw one heavy mortar being pulled by a 2½ ton truck at HAMCH’ANG o/a 19 Aug 50.

Vehicles:
Observed the following at HAMCH’ANG o/a 19 Aug 50: 2 empty NKPA horse drawn carts; 2 ox-carts carrying rice and small arms ammo; one 2½ ton truck hauling rice; 2 Soviet-type “jeeps” carrying 4 officers.

Supplies:
Received an average of one rice tall daily until 1st Bn ran out of rations 23 Aug 50. Bn personnel depended solely on food confiscated from farmers after 23 Aug 50.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 1st Bn was TAEGU. Received no gas equipment or training. Morale was low because of the lack of food, ammo, and training.
