PW was cooperative, however information limited due to lack of education, moreover he handled a rifle for the first time 24 Aug 50, and doesn't know what a HMO and Mortar looks like.
Military History:Inducted 24 Jul 50, at MUNCH'ON (文川). Received close order drill for 10 days at MUNCH'ON. 1,500 departed MUNCH'ON 5 Aug 50. Left MUNCH'ON as Independent 1st Inf Bn by rail - arrived YANGYANG (襄陽) - 7 Aug 50.
Departed YANGYANG - 8 Aug 50 - marched - arrived CHUMUNJIN (注文津) 10 Aug 50.
Departed CHUMUNJIN - 11 Aug 50 - marched - arrived SAMCH'OK (三陟) 17 Aug 50.
Departed SMCH'OK - 17 Aug 50 - marched - arrived UTCHIN (蔚珍) 20 Aug 50.
Departed UTCHIN - 21 Aug 50 - marched - arrivod YONGDOK (盈德) 22 Aug 50.
Departed YONGDOK - 23 Aug 50 - marched - arrived HUNGHAE (興海) 24 Aug 50. Between MUNCH'ON and HUNGHAE this unit did not encounter any artillery or air attack. 1,500 recruits arrived safely. Received weapons at HUNGHAE.
24 Aug 50, 74 man including PW were sent to a hill, reason unknown.
Night 26 Aug 50, 41 men went down the hill to see if they could contact the enemy, they fired a couple of rounds end returned. Midway up the mountain the platoon leader told PW to remain. When he awoke the next morning, ho was captured by the ROK 3rd Regt, 27 0700 Aug 50. Disposition of other men in his battalion, unknown.
Personalities:2nd Plt Ldrs KIM, SANG HUN (金尙勳) (김상훈) Jr Lt; Age 30.
Weapons and Personnel:PW heard that there were 3 battalions at MUNCH'ON, however he did not see the 2nd and 3rd Bn. 1st Bn - beard there were approx 1,500 recruits. There were 4 rifle companies in one battalion. Company - approx 200 men. 4 rifle platoon - approx 50 men each. 4 rifle squad - approx 11 - 12 men each.
Squad leader, PPsh M1941 Sub-machine gun, rounds unknown. Others, M1891/30 rifle, 40 to 50 rounds each, 2 grenades. Officers, Tokarev pistols.
Saw 2 LMG in rifle platoon, rounds unknown. Heard there was a HMG Co and Mortar Co, however he did not know what a HMG or a Mortar looks like.
Supplies:Ammunition supply and route, unknown.
Received food twice per day. Source, unknown.
Enemy Intention: UnknownPW did not know what happened to his battalion after he was captured. PW board from another PW that he was in the 5th Div, 10th Regt after he was captured.
