Military History:
PW was inducted 2 Jul 50 at NAM-SINUIJU (南新義州). 6 Jul 50 PW was assigned to 4th Squad, 1st Plt, 3rd Co, 3rd Bn. Unit was activated the same day. Trained as. rifleman for 10 days, then PW was promoted to Jr Sgt and assigned as asst squad leader of 4th squad, 1st Plt, 3rd Co, 3rd Bn. PW states that the 73rd Ind Regt, consisting of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Bn’s was organized o/a 6 Jul 50.
27 Jul 50 there were 3 more battalions (7th, 8th, 9th) added to the 73rd Ind Regt. The Regt Hqs was situated in SINUIJU. 1st and 2nd Bn left NAMSINUIJU 2 Aug 50 by rail and 3rd Bn left on 3 Aug 50, by rail through P’YONGYANG, SARIWON (沙里院), KUMCH'ON (金泉), KAESONG (開城), SOBINGO (西氷庫) (western suburb of SEOUL), YANGPYONG and to WONJU, dates of arrival unknown.
At WONJU, 3rd Bn joined the 1st and 2nd Bns, PW heard that 4th, 5th and 6th Bns came south also. However, PW did not see them at WONJU and does not know disposition of those 3 battalions.
From WONJU 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns marched to TANYANG (丹陽), From TANYANG the 3 battalions moved by train to PUNGGI. From there the battalions marched through ANDONG, CH’ONG-SONG (靑松), TAEJON-DONG (大田洞) and arrived at HYON NAE RI at 22 Aug 50. From here 3rd Bn along advanced south to IMAM-NI on 23 Aug 50. On evening of 23 Aug 50, the Bn was surrounded by ROK Troops. PW and 30 others captured 24 2300K Aug 50 at IMAM-NI (立岩里) 1200-1470, by ROK 16th Regt.

PW observed average of 3 freight trains a day of approx 30 flat cars loaded with unknown tanks and unknown trucks from 15 Aug 50 to 25 Aug 50, at NAMSINUIJU. PW believes these supplies were coming from Soviet Russia through Manchuria.

Supplies:
Received average of 1 rice ball a day, Rifle and ammunition were issued at NAMSINUIJU. No ammunition issued after their initial 120 rounds.

Enemy Intentions:
Objective of 73rd Regt was TAEGU via IMAM-NI
