Evaluation:
PW was cooperative, however he lacked military information because he spent most of the time laying telephone wires.

Military History:
Inducted 6 July 50 at WONSAN (元山).
Received no basic training.
Tactical Movements:
Departed WONSAN 6 Jul by rail - arrived YANGYANG (襄陽) 7 Jul 50 with 500 conscripts (three-fourths NK students, one-fourth farmers).
Departed YANGYANG by truck - arrived KANGNUNG (江陵) 12 Jul 50 with 1,500 conscripts including 1,000 conscripts who joined them at YANGYANG. The first Border guard brigade was redesignated the 8th Div. Three lnf Regts were organized 1st, 2nd and 3rd Regts. PW was placed into the Div Signal Bn. Did not receive any weapons,
Departed KANGNUNG 12 Jul 50 - marched - arrived 4 km NE of CHECH’ON (堤川) 16 Jul 50. Only the Signal and Eng Bn arrived. Whereabouts of Inf Regt’s unknown.
Departed 4 km NE of CHECH’ON 23 Jul - marched Signal Bn, Eng Bn and Div Hqs - arrived D/U Jul TANYANG.
Departed TANYANG (丹陽) D/U Jul - marched - arrived ANDONG D/U Aug.
Departed ANDONG (安東) D/U Aug - marched - arrived UISONG D/U Aug.
Departed UISONG (義城味) D/U Aug - marched - Signal Bn, Eng Bn and Div Hq - arrived in vicinity of UIHUNG (never saw the town, only heard that they were near the town, distance unk) D/u Aug.
200 men from Signal Bn and 300 to 400 men from the Eng Bn were divided among the Inf Regts. 1st Inf Regt was located S of UISONG. From Regt Hq unknown number of men were moved to the 3rd Bn, 1st Regt Area, approx 40 km NW of YONGCH’ON. PW was assigned to the 8th Div, 1st Regt, 3rd Bn, 3rd Co. Having been in action 29 Aug 50 at a hill about 8 km NW of YONGCH’ON the bn reorganized at the foot of the hill and proceeded to “YONOOK-DONG”, morning of 30 Aug 50. They engaged the ROK 19th Regt. Many NKPA troops were killed. The rest retreated but PW remained in his foxhole until he was captured.

Enemy Intentions:
Prior to 15 Aug 50 the 8th Div’s mission was to take TAEGU, the first Div to reach TAEGU was to be called a "Guard" Division (KUNWI-SADAN 近衛 師團). After 15 Aug 50, it was said that TAEGU was already occupied by the NKPA. Next mission was YONGCH’ON. The CO said if we take a hill near YONGCH’ON (永川), two Divisions will come up from the rear and we could leap frog each other and take YONGCH’ON.
PW said over half of his Bn was wiped out before he was captured. Whereabouts of other units unknown. This year, MUNP’YONG-NI was renamed MUNCH’ON and MUNCH’ON renamed OKP'YONG (玉坪). MUNCH’ON sector became MUNCH’ON GUN. While PW was at ANDONG D/U Aug 50 he heard from fellow soldier that the 7th and 11th Div were near YECH’ON (醴泉).
