3. MILITARY HISTORY:2 Sep 50 Inducted at NANAM (羅南) and assigned to the 568th Unit, 1st Bn, 1st Co, 1st Plat.
4 Oct 50 Unit left NANAM by train and on foot.
20 Oct 50 Arrived at an unknown village in ANSU MYON (安水面).
23 Oct 50 Deserted.
12 Nov 50 Captured by ROK.

5. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:PN observed one Russian 1st Lt (branch of service unk) at NANAM on several occasions. The last time observed was o/a 25 Sep 50. Mission of officer was unknown.
6. WEAPONS AND PERSONNEL:The 568th Unit consisted of 3 Inf Bns and one Arty Bn (?), and was commanded by a Colonel. PW stated that the unit was a Regt, but does not know the Regt’l designation nor the Div to which the unit was attached. Does not know of any other Regts.
The Inf Bns under the unit were the 1st, 4nd and 3rd. The 1st Bn consisted of 1st, 2nd and HMG Cos. The 1st Co had approx 110 men (3 Plats), 10 DP LMGs (50 rds of ammo each) commanded by it OH, Tu Won (吳斗元).
All men carried MOSSIN NAGANT rifles with 25 rd ammo with the exception of Med personnel (6 to a Co). The HMG Co had approx 4X7.62mm MAXIM M 1910 HMGs. PW observed eight MAXIM HMGs altogether in the 568th Unit. PW has no knowledge of strength of Bns in 568th Unit.
7. SUPPLIES:The unit has never received any supplies since leaving NANAM (羅南) on 4 Oct 50. Food was requisitioned from local villages.
8. MORALE:Morale was very low. Many intended to desert unit after reaching ANSU MYON (安水面).
9. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Location of Provision Warehouse:
Two rice whses (40mX15mX8m brick) were located approx 70m SSE of the HOERYONG (會寧) RR station.
