2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative but his information limited. Does not wish to return to CHINA. Quite certain about 111 Div being in 38th Army

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
Aug 1944: Joined CNA and received two months of basic training. PW was attached to 71st Army mechanized unit which occupied: NANKING (南京), Apr 45; SHANGHAI (上海), Mar 46; PEIPING (北京), Dec 46; TIENTSIN (天津), Mar 47; MUKDEN (奉天), Jul 47; SSUPING-CHIEH (四平街), Aug 47 Nov 1947 - 71st Army Mechanized Unit went to MUKDEN to assist in its defense but PW was left behind and joined the 71st Army, 88th Div.
Feb 1948: 88th Div surrendered to CCF at SSUPING CHIEH.
Feb 1948: Interned at LIUHO (柳河), MANCHURIA with 300 other CNA PsW in farmers' homes, PW did no work, received no training, heard no propaganda lectures while interned here.
Aug 1948: PW and 100 others were sent to an unknown town in squads of 12 and billeted in separate homes. Each squad had two CCF soldiers who conducted indoctrination. After two months of indoctrination the squad was taken into the mountains where it received physical training for a month.
Nov 1948: KIUTAI (九台) - living in civilian homes and receiving physical training. Each PW was incorporated into different squads in the 335th Regt, 111 Div. The 335th Regt was sent to occupy the TIENTSIN - PEIPING Area.
Nov 1949: 335th Regt went by train non-stop from PEIPING to KWANGHSI-SHENG, KWEI LIN (廣西省 桂林). Engaged in one battle with Nationalist Forces.
Sep 1950: 335th Regt boarded a train at KWEI LIN and came north to TIEHLING (鉄嶺).
17 Oct 1950: 335th Regt boarded train at TIEHLING and crossed the YAW River on 20 Oct 1950 (Did not know exactly where he crossed the river).
8 Nov 1950: Deserted unit and surrendered to UN Forces.

Equipment:
335th Regt turned in damaged weapons for serviceable ones at TIEHLING (鉄嶺) on/about 10 Oct 1950. Jap M-1938, LMGs, and mortars were exchanged. 50 rds of rifle ammo were issued to each man.

Personalities:
CO 2nd Bn, 335th Regt: CHENG, Wen Hua (程文化), age - 32, from SHANTUNG-SHENG (山東省).

4. GENERAL INFORMATION:
There were no NK personnel in PW's unit. A Korean interpreter was attached to each company at TIEHLING (鉄嶺). These were neither NK nor CCF troops.
PWs unit came intact and under the same chain of command, to KOREA.
No armored equipment was ever seen by PW after 1949.
PW did not volunteer for service in KOREA. PW did not know where the unit was going until it crossed the YALU River.
No Koreans were in 335th Regt.
One telephone connects 2nd Bn with 335th Regt.
No artillery support. No regimental vehicles.
335th Regt had no amphibious training.
No Japanese CCF personnel were seen by PW.
335th Regt came to KOREA intact. Other units unknown.
Pvts received 80,000 yuanl, Bn Comdrs 200,000 yuan.
335th Regt did not invade HAINAN Island.
Political Officers usually spent their time teaching the illiterates.
