2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative, average intelligence. Fairly reliable. 12 years schooling.

3. MILITARY HISTORY:
30 Jul 50 - Inducted at PYONGYANG (平壤) and was attached to the 300th Unit, 3d Bn, 4th Co.
2 Aug 50 - The 300th Unit left PYONGYANG. and arrived at KAESONG (開城) on 4 Aug 50. Received military training for 20 days.
10 Oct 50 - PW deserted and started for his home in PUKCHONGA (北靑)
14 Nov 50 - Captured at MUNNAM-SAN (武南山) (approximately 70 Km N of HAMHUNG) by 31st Inf.

4. ORGANIZATION:
The 300th Unit was a Security Forces Unit under the Ministry of the Interior, and was organized on 10 July 50 at PYONGYANG. It comprised 3 Bns.
The 300th Unit Hq and the 1st and 2nd Bns were stationed at SEOUL, and the 3d Bn at KAESONG, prior 15 Oct 50. (Hearsay) PW heard later that the 300th Unit had retreated to HYESANJIN (惠山鎭) and that it had never engaged in combat. This he heard at TACHANG when he met a deserter who also had been in the 300th Unit.

5. STRENGTH:
The strength of the 300th Unit prior to PW's desertion was estimated at approximately 2,000.

6. WEAPONS:
The Unit had no heavy weapons. Only 2/3 of the troops were armed with rifles.

7. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:
Hearsay - 12 Nov 50. Heard from a villager at HANDAE-RI (漢垈里) that a large number of CCF and NKA troops were stationed there. The exact number of tMops was unknown. PW also heard the villagers complain that they each had to give 4 kg of rice to these troops every day.
o/a 4 Nov 50. Heard that approximately 2,000 NK stragglers including CCF personnel were stationed at SACHANG-NI (社倉里) from villager who lived there. These villagers here also had to supply rice to these troops.
