Dec 48 Proceeded, with above CCF unit, to PEIP'ING (北京), CHINA engaged Nationalist Forces in combat.
Jan 49 At PEIP'ING (北京), unit designation changed to 8th Sqd, 3rd Plat, 3rd Co, 370th Regt, 124th Div, 42nd Army, CCF. Reason for change unknown.

18-26 Oct 50 Marched in a general southeasterly direction, paralleling for 40km the railroad running south from KANGGYE to HUICHUAN (凞川), North KOREA. Average distance covered per day - 40km.
27 Oct 50 Captured by ROK troops, in vicinity of HWANGCHO-LYONG (黃草嶺), NK.

PW asserts that the Divisional Security Guard Battalion was established for the purpose of providing protection for officer personnel. Division Hqs had at least three (3) officers - Division Commander, Division Executive Officer, Division Operations Officer. Regimental Hqs had the same officer complement. Battalion Headquarters - Officer personnel comprised Bn Commander, Executive Officer, Political Officer and Assistant Political Officer. Company Hqs had the same officer complement as that of Battalion Headquarters

6. EQUIPMENT (last known):
(a) Trucks and other motorized equipment Only 1 jeep (for Div Commander).
(b) Antitank weapons - 60mm Jap manufactured field gun. Bazookas were assigned to each regiment.
(c) Rockets - None.
(d) Mines - Each regiment has an unknown quantity of antitank mines (type unknown). PW did not know of any minefields.
(e) Pistols - All Chinese Communist officers were equipped with pistols - magazine capacity 7 rds.

7. TRAINING:
July - Oct 50 - While at HSIAOTUNGKOU (小通遘), MANCHURIA, PW's unit trained in accordance with the following schedule:
6 days/week Sunday - Cleaning of equipment, etc.
  0500 - Reveille
0500 - 0530 - Calisthenics
0530 - 0600 - Briefed as to the days activities.
0600 - 0630 - Quarters
0630 - 0700 - Breakfast
0700 - 1100 - Rifle marksmanship
1100 - 1300 - Lunch and free time
1300 - 1700 - Rifle marksmanship; squad, platoon, and company tactical training (including village fighting)
1700 - 1730 - Supper
1730 - 1900 - Free time
  - 2000 - Taps


8. PERSONALITIES:
Sqd Ldr - LI, Tsui Hua (李崔華).
Plat Commander - CHANG (張  ).
Company Commander - CHANG, Yuan (張元又).

9. MORALE :
Insufficient clothing and food were given as the major reasons for unit discontent. Attacking US aircraft caused considerable fear among CCF personnel. However, due to camouflage and prepared foxholes, personnel casualties produced by aircraft were negligible,
PW stated that CCF intervention in KOREA was prompted by fear that MANCHURIA would be invaded by US armed forces, PW further stated that ex-Nationalist personnel in the Chinese Communist forces were reticent about voicing their opinions concerning the merits of Communism because of the presence of ex-Nationalist intelligence personnel within the Communist ranks,
Redistribution policies pursed by the Chinese Communist Government were cited as inducing considerable discontent in MANCHURIA.
Monthly pay received.by PW amounted to 70,000 yuan.

Oct 49 - PW's unit traveled by train over a single track route from SHANHAIKUAN (山海岡), CHINA to PEIAN (北安), MANCHURIA. The following route was used:

Oct 50 - PW's unit traveled, via a good single track railroad, from NINGNIEN (寧念), MANCHURIA - ANANCH'I (安安取), MANCHURIA -- PAICH'ENGTZU, MANCHURIA -- LIAOYANG (遼陽), MANCHURIA — SSUP'INGHSIEN (四平縣), MANCHURIA — MEIHOKOU (梅河口), MANCHURIA -- T'UNGHUA (通化), MANCHURIA -- CHIAN (輯安), MANCHURIA.
