3. MILITARY HISTORY:26 Aug 50 - Inducted at PYONGYANG (平壤) and appointed Jr Lt due to educational background.
13 Sep 50 - 70 officers departed PYONGYANG by rail.
18 Sep 50 - Officers arrived at SEOUL (京城). PW was assigned to the 17th Div, 2d Regt, 2d Bn as supply officer.
26 Sep 50 - PW and 4 NCO's of the Supply Co left for PYONGYANG. The 2d Regt of the 17th Div was at SEOUL and the 1st and 3d Regts were at UIJONGBU.
3 Oct 50 - Arrived PYONGYANG.
4 Oct 50 - Departed PYONGYANG - Destination YONCHON (漣川).
6 Oct 50 - Arrived YONCHON and left for CHORWON (鐵原).
7 Oct 50 - Arrived CHORWON, and assigned to the advance Hq Supply Section, Whereabouts of the 17th Div was unk at this time.
11 Oct 50 - The Advance Hq began retreating Northward.
5 Nov 50 - PW arrived FUKSU (黑水) Village.
9 Nov 50 - Captured by the 17th RCT while looking for food in FUKSU.
4. FOREIGN ELEMENTS:On 27 Oct 50 PW observed an Advance : Party of 40 CCF troops in FUKSU-RI (黑水里). PW spoke to one and was told that the Unit was the Advance Scouting Plat of a CCF Unit (Str Unk) which was enroute to FUKSURI Area.
On 218 or 29 Oct PW reported for duty to the 2d Advance Hq of the 17th Div which was then stationed in SACHANG (社倉). PW spoke to a Capt and CCF Div Commander, SON Ka Chan (孫科長) (MANCHURIAN) in the Hq bldg (former SACHAN Hospital. The CCF Div Commander was then in civilian clothes and did not speak Korean. PW spoke thru an interpreter.
PW obtained the following information from the Div Commander.
1) All NKA ground troops were to be reorganized in TONASUTO (KANJI Unk) (Phonetic TONASOO TO - possibly Manchurian place name.)
2) All NKA armored troops were to assemble for reorganization in MANPOJIN (澫浦鎭).
3) 1 Div of CCF troops had arrived in SACHANG (社倉) on 26 Oct 50.
4) 1 Div of CCF troops had arrived in KOTOSU (古土水). Arrived date unknown.
5) All ground troops to be engaged in late Oct and early Nov will be CCF troops and NK Guard Bns and Units while the NKA reorganized.
6) The CCF Commander stated that one CCF Co consisted of the following:
1 Bicycle Unit
1 Cavalry Unit
1 Inf Unit (Armed with PPSH Tommy Gun, special Assault Unit)
1 Arty Unit
1 Rocket Unit (8 rocket launchers mounted on trucks)
7) The 2d and 3d classes. of the NKA Air Force Cadets had graduated in a MONGOLIA (Location Unk) Air School. Date unk. They would be in combat in the near future.
8) 20 CCF Divs would enter North KOREA in the near future.
Whereabouts of the 17th Div at present was unknown.
