3. MILITARY HISTORY:17 Sep 50 - Forcibly inducted at PYONGCHANG (平昌) South KOREA and attached to the 82mm mortar Co of the 6th Bn, 38th Brig. At this time there were 6 Bns in the 38th Brig.

27 Sep 50 - The entire 6th Bn began retreating northward (on foot). The 6th Bn's route to KOTORI (古土里) included, INJE (麟蹄) KOREA 30 Sep 50, KUMGANG SAN (金剛山) area 6 Oct 50, ANBYON (安辺) 10 Oct. 50, WONSAN (元山) 12 Oct 50, YONGHUNG (永興) 15 Oct 50, CHONGPYONG 16 Oct 50, KOTORI (古土里) 17 Oct 50.
18 Oct 50 - The 6th En arrived at MANPLIN NI, 15km NW of KOTORI.
19 Oct 50 - Deserted. Heard from fellow soldiers that the 6th Bn was heading for CHANGJIN (長津).
18 Nov 50 - Surrendered to the Security Police. (at SAMGO (三巨)).
4. ORGANIZATION:The total strength of the 6th Bn prior to PW's desertion was approx 600 men. The following units were attached to the Bn:

The 3rd Bn of the 38th Brig was last seen at INJE (麟蹄)on 30 Sep 50.
5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:At MANPUN RI 15km NW of KOTORI (古土里) source heard from the village folks that there were approx 100 guerrillas hiding in the hills (3km SW). Also heard that members of this guerrilla band were in the village 17 Oct 50 to confiscate provisions. Also heard that the former Communist Party Leader of HAMKYONG NAMDO, HAMJU KUN (咸南道 咸州郡) (name unk) joined these guerrilla bands on or about 14 Oct 50 with 6 follow former party members.
In their retreat northward the 6th Bn gathered provisions from the villages they passed. The Bn CO ordered the village heads to provide the unit with food, and in return they received a statement that the village tax would be reduced in the coming year.
