1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was cooperative, but due to limited military service his information limited. PW seems fairly reliable.
On 9 Sep 50, PW’s unit’s (1st Co) mission was to take a mt., 8 km N of YONGCHON. Upon reaching the mountain about 0400 hours 9 Sep 50, the Co was attacked by unk ROK troops, who were occupying the mountain. In this attack the unit lost approx 30 men and 10 wounded.

3. T/O & E OF UNIT:
Co: 125 men
Plt: 41 men
Sqd: 8 or 9 men

Rifleman armed with M1891/30 rifles, 100 rounds per man, two grenades each.
Sqd Ldrs: sub machine guns (two 70 round drums each) or M1891/30 rifles (100 rounds each), two grenades.
Officers: M1933 pistols, no grenades.
1st Inf Co: 3 HMG, 3 DP LMG, two 45mm Mortars, one 120mm gun.

4. DISPOSITION OF ABOVE UNITS:
1st Regt was last seen stationed at 8 km N of YONGCHON in mt area on 2 Sep 50.
HEARSAY: PW heard from Plt Ldr that W flank of 1st Regt was occupied by the 105th Inf Div and the 7th Div was in the rear of the 1st Regt, 73rd Div (4 Sep 50).

5. ESTIMATED STRENGTH OF ABOVE UNITS:
1st Co approx 20 men, two HMG, three DP LMG, one 45mm Mortar, one 120mm gun, 9 Sep 50.

6. PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 21 Jul 50 at SINMAK (新幕). PW received one month basic infantry training with wooden rifle. Training included marksmanship, close order drill & calisthenics at SINUIJU.
PW was assigned to the 73rd Div on the day of induction.
On 21 Aug 50 the entire 1st Regt boarded a train and headed for YOJU, arrived YOJU on 26 Aug 50.
Departed YOJU - 26 Aug 50 - marched - arrived CHUNGJU - 30 Aug 50.
Departed CHUNGJU - 31 Aug 50 - marched - arrived ANDONG - 3 Sep 50.
At ANDONG the 1st Regt was separated into battalions.
PW's Bn departed ANDONG on 3 Sep 50 and took to the mountain trail.
After marching for three days the Bn was separated into Co's (12Km N of YONGCHONG). Disposition of Co's unknown.
PW’s Co (1st Co) marched to a mt. 8 km N of YONGCHON on 6 Sep 50.
On 9 Sep 50 they were attacked by unknown ROK troops.

7. FOOD &. AMID SUPPLIES:
PW received average of two meals per day, one bowl of rice with few vegetables.
Food was looted from farms and villages.
Ammunition last received at SEOUL on 16 Aug 50. 100 rounds per man.
Ammunition was carried individually and by S. Korean (one box), who had been forced to labor by the N. Koreans.

8. MORALE:
Troops' morale was low because they did not have the will to fight.
