a. There were no Communist (Chinese or USSR) armed forces located in KOREA south of the 38 Parallel. The following units located in S KOREA are not being used for combat against the UN Forces: (Unit Designations, Unknown) (As of 6 Aug 50)
SEOUL - one (1) Inf Div
TAEJON (大田) - one (1) Inf Div
lNCH’ON (仁川) - one (1) Inf Regt
KUNSAN (群山) - one (1) Inf Regt
MOKP’O (木浦) - one (1) Inf Regt
YOSU (麗水) - one (l) Inf Regt
PW emphasized that these units are not Security units but NKPA units. The mission of these units is to defend the W coast of S KOREA. These troops will not be used for reinforcement or replacements for NK Forces against current UN Lines. Majority of the troops are recently conscripted recruits. PW stated that the location of aforementioned units are certain, because he had been to all the places before he was captured.
b. PW believes that CHINA will not send any troops to KOREA unless USSR sends troops. He also thinks that CHINA will attack FORMOSA, instead of sending troops to KOREA.
PW estimated that there are about 30 Independent Divisions (Chinese Communists) in MANCURIA. PW believes if they send troops from CHINA, they will probably enter KOREA by way of SINUIJU (新義州). He also believes that the troops in MANCHURIA will be the ones to enter KOREA because they are nearby.
c. PW believes that it is impossible to utilize N Korean air and naval forces south of 38° Parallel, because many aircraft and vessels were destroyed by UN bombing.
d. PW believes that USSR will not intervene in this war, because if they enter this war it will be another World War. In the event the USSR sends troops, they will probably enter by way of NAJIN (羅津) and travel along the eastern coast.
e. PW said that the S Koreans will cooperate with the UN Forces because they do not like Communism. He also believes that 50% of the indigenous populace in N KOREA will cooperate with the UN Forces.
