ATIS INTERROGATION REPORT NO. 1033 14 September 1950
FIELD REPORT (ADVATIS - Supl. No. 1 to No. 0540) 12 September 1950
(Ref to ATIS Rpt No. 721)

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:
PW NAME: PAK Kwang Hon (朴光憲) (박광헌)
PW NUMBER: 1835
RANK: Lt
AGE: 23
UNIT: 7th Rifle Div, 1st Inf Regt, 2nd Bn Hq
DUTIES: Ass’t to Bn Political Officer
INTERROGATOR: Sgt HAMASAKA (ATIS)

2. ASSESSMENT:
PW appeared to be fairly intelligent. He was cooperative, however could reply to questions with only personal opinions. PW considered reliable by interrogator.
a. PW does not think there are Chinese Communist or USSR armed forces either in North or South KOREA. PW believes NKPA units in South KOREA are composed of combat troops and their reinforcements and replacements.
b. PW dose not think Chinese Communist Forces will intervene against UN forces in South KOREA because of international complications. PW believes Chinese Communists are fully aware of world opinion among 53 UN members supporting UN forces in KOREA.
c. No. opinion regarding NK Air-Naval action.
d, PW thinks UN offensive up to 38° parallel against NKPA will not precipitate open USSR intervention. However, PW believes UN offensive beyond 38° parallel (North) will furnish USSR with justification for armed intervention. (PW’s opinion not based on any official documents or opinions).
e. PW thinks majority of indigenous personnel in South Korean areas retaken by UN forces are still loyal to the South Korean Government and will actively support UN forces. Approximately 85% of indigenous persons in North Korean areas captured by UN forces will probably remain loyal to North Korean Government. Remaining 15% would cooperate with the UN forces, but not actively.
