PW appeared to be fairly intelligent. He was satisfied with present treatment as a PW. PW's answers to questions herewith are not based on facts or knowledge but are only personal opinions. PW considered fairly reliable by interrogator.
a. PW believes there are no Chinese or USSR Armed forces located in North or South Korea. PW also believes all available NKPA troops in South Korea are engaged in combat against UN PUSAN beachhead or held as reinforcements and/or replacements in that operation.
b. PW unable to express opinion on whether Chinese Communist Air and/or ground forces will be used against UN operations south of 38° parallel.
c. PW doubts whether NK Airforce exists in any strength because during PW’s march with NKPA 7th Rifle Div from 38° parallel southward to T'ONGYONG (31 Jul - 23 Aug 50) no air protection from UN air interdictions was ever received from NK air force. PW thinks NK air force hq is located at P’YONGYANG. PW unable to furnish any information on NK Navy, however thinks NK Navy Hq is located at WONSAN.
d. PW unable to give opinion on possibility of USSR intervention in event of successful UN offensive against NKPA. However, at HAEJU, 15 Jul 50, PW heard rumors from superior officers, 7th Rifle Div, that USSR considered Korean War as internal conflict and therefore would not intervene in this war.
e. FW believes that in South Korean areas retaken by UN units, indigenous personnel will cooperate actively with UN units in fighting the NKPA. PW estimates that 80% of NKPA controlled South Korean population are still loyal to the South Korean government, however no large group in this population can be contacted by UN units for rear-line guerrilla activity since all available manpower has been conscripted into NKPA Rear-units or in local security units and are probably under strict NKPA control.
