3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:a. Chronology:
Inducted 3 Aug 50 at P'YONGYANG. Movements as follows:
Departed P'YONGYANG (300 replacements) 3 Aug 50 - freight car - arrived TAEJON 11 Aug 50.
Departed TAEJON (300 men) 12 Aug 50 - marched - arrived KUMCH’ON 17 Aug 50.
Departed KUMCH’ON (300 men) 17 Aug 50 - marched - arrived WAEGWAN 21 Aug 50.
Departed WAEGWAN 21 Aug 50 - marched - arrived 12 km NE of WAEGWAN 24 Aug 50. At 12 km NE of WAEGWAN on 24 Aug 50, 280 men received rifle, 20 men received none. 300 men received 5 bend grenades each. 50% were F-1 defensive hand grenades and 50% were RG-42 offensive hand grenades.
Same day 300 men were divided into 100 men groups and assigned to Cos: PW and 99 men to 1st Co, 100 men to 2nd Co, 100 men to 3rd Co of 1st Bn, 9th Regt, 3rd Div. 1st Co was divided into 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Plts. Departed 12 km NE of WAEGWAN 24 Aug 50 - marched - arrived 10 km E of TAEGU 7 Sep 50. 1st Bn left 12 km NE or WAEGWAN but only the 1st Co was observed 10 km E of TAEGU. Disposition of 2nd and 3rd Cos unknown. Separated from 1st Co after PW and 2 men were sent on a reconnaissance mission at 072300 Sep 50. At 080600 Sep 50 PW was captured by UN forces (ROK and US troops) 12 km NE of WAEGWAN. 1st Co was armed with: Company commander carried PPsh M1941 SMG, approx 350 rounds; Plt ldr carried PPsh 1941 SMG, 72 rounds; Sqd Ldr carried PPsh 1941 SMG, 72 rounds; Riflemen carried M1891/30 rifle, 30 rounds each rifle; one DP LMG. No HMG’s were observed.
b. Intentions:
Objective of 1st Co - PUSAN via T’AEGU. PW heard this from CO on 3 Sep 50 on the way to area 10 km E of T’AEGU.
c. Personalities:

d. Morale:
Morale was low, not enough training and food.
e. Leaflets:
Around 2 Sep 50 PW saw leaflets dropped from aircraftt but didn't read any. However, PW's friend told him the leaflets read “Last victory will be in South Korean Army," and PW believes this because PW never saw any NKPA planes and noticed UN air superiority.
