Early in the morning 23 Aug 50, the 3rd Bn advanced upon a mountain, however, they were fired upon by ROK 16th Regt. PW was captured 0900 hrs. Others retreated.
Weapons and Personnel:Sub-machine Gun Co - 90 to 100 men. 3 platoons in company. 3 squads in a platoon. All men carried PPsh sub-machine guns, 72 rounds.
22 Aug 50, one man from the Sub-machine Gun Co was placed in each rifle squad. There were 4 squads in a rifle platoon, all men except PW carried M1891/30 rifles, 20-25 rounds. Only rifle squad loader carried one or two grenades. PW believed the men in the 2nd Rifle Co, in which he was placed 22 Aug 50, were killed.
Supplies:PW received ammunition for first and last time at SINUIJU. Received one to two meals a day after 13 Aug 50.
Additional Information:PW stated that the morale was low because they were hungry. PW stated that the platoon leader told the men at SINUIJU that they were not going into battle but to occupy a liberated area.
