Military History:Inducted 6 Jul 50 at North SINUIJU. Received 20 days of infantry basic training at N. SINUIJU.

Night of 22 Aug 50 while his company was taking up a position on a hill they were fired upon by 16th Regt ROK troops, pinned down for the night and on 23 0700 Aug 50, 45 men including PW were captured.
Personalities:Mortar Co CO: KIM, KO POK (김거복) Lt: Age 23 Captured PW saw CO in PW Camp.

Weapons and Personnel:73rd Ind Inf Regt - Over 2,000 conscripts.
One battalion composed of 600 men. PW stated there were 6 battalions. There were 3 rifle companies to a battalion. One rifle company - approx 100 men. 3 platoons to a company. Platoon 20 men. 3 squads to a platoon. Squad - 12 men.
Squad leader armed with PPsh M1941 Sub-machine Gun, 100 rounds. Others carried M1891/30 rifles, 100 rounds, 1 grenade.
Unknown number of DP LMG’s in a rifle company.
One HMG Co to a battalion. Number of men unknown. PW saw 3 Maxim HMGs. No other information.
One Mortar Co to a battalion. (in name only - no mortars) Approximately 50 men. 3 platoons in a company. 3 squads in a platoon. Squad 5 or 6 men. Squad leader carried a sub-machine gun. Others carried M1891/30 rifle, 16 rounds, 1 grenade.
PW heard that when this unit reached its destination (location unknown) they would receive mortars.
PW stated that most of the men in his unit including the CO were captured. He did not know where the rifle companies and the other battalions went, however, he still thinks that they are in the vicinity of IMAM-Ni.
Supplies:Received ammunition for the first and last time at SINUIJU. Received two meals a day.
Miscellaneous Information:Before PW left SINUIJU his Co CO told the men that they would not go into battle but would occupy areas which were already liberated.
