PW had very little information due to his very short period of military service.
Military History:Date inducted 10 Jul 50 SARIWON.

Tactical Movements:
11 Jul 50 departed SARIWON by rail. 2,000 untrained conscripts escorted by NKPA officers. 17 Jul 50 arrived SUOWN (水原). 19 Jul 50 departed SUWON on foot, 200 in PW’s group. Disposition of remainder (1,800) unknown. 17 Aug 50 arrived at a point approx 4 km NW of PUKTUNGBAN via YOJU (驪州), HAMCH’ANG (咸昌) and SANGJU (商州). No large troop concentration at or near any of the above-mentioned towns. The entired 200 was assigned to the 1st Div. 30, including PW, was assigned to the 2nd Regt. Troops of 2nd Regt were not observed in the vicinity. The 50 new replacements were issued Russian rifles and Jap M99 rifles. Received on hour instruction on the machines of these rifles, from NCO’s of the 2nd Regt. Rifles wore in poor condition.
Immediately after rifle instruction, replacements were given one rice ball. Rice was hand carried up the mountain by service personnel of the 2nd Regt. Without further delay, PW and nine other new replacements were assigned to a rifle squad, increasing its strength to 15, including the squad leader who was armed with either Russian rifles or Jap M99 rifles.
20 0800 Aug 50 - Squad proceeded by itself from the northern foot of PUKTUNG SAN and circled the western slope. Mission undisclosed. No other NKPA units observed in the vicinity of the jump-off point. PW got separated from squad during an air strike by UN fighter planes. PW unknowingly walked into a ROK position on the southwest slope of PUKTONG SAN.
