PW was cooperative.
Since he has been in the Army since 24 Dec 50; information very limited.
10 Jan 51, while PW and another soldier were in a hut waiting for their frostbitten feet to heal, a civilian came in and asked them who they were. PW’s told him that they were NKA soldiers whereupon the civilian produced a pistol and informed that he was a South Korean guerrilla.

Conscripted into the 2nd Sqd, 2nd Plat, 8th Co, 3rd Bn, 27th Regt, 10 Div 24 Dec 50 at HWACHON (CT 8617).
Received no training; PW was not even issued a uniform. PW received a 1891/30 Rifle without ammo at time of conscription at HWACHON. He claimed that he was in the NKA, and not a partisan or guerrilla unit.
While travelling from HWACHON to CHECHON, the following route was followed:

Captured by ROK Guerrillas 10 Jan 51 at a point 2 km S of CHECH’ON.
PW heard that the mission of the 27th Regt was to take TAEGU by the end of Jan 1951 by direct attack, not infiltration.
As of 9 Jan 5, PW saw only his Co at CHECH’ON. Although he heard rumors that the 27th Regt was there PW did not see any CCF troops.
Ammo was issued only once at HWACH’ON 1 Jan 51.
Food was gathered at whatever village they entered.
Communication between Co, Bn, Regt and Div was believed to be by telephone. Below Co level, communication by runners.
PW stated that the morale was high in his unit because the NKA were strengthened by the CCF intervention.

a. Voluntarily because he was wounded; furthermore, he had no weapon.
2. Did you see any United Nations leaflets or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. No
3. Can you describe what they said?
a. Negative.
4. What was your reaction to them?
a. Negative.
5. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcast?
a. Negative.
