PW was cooperative.
He did not seem to be familiar with the service.
The information seems unreliable in view of the conflicting answers and inability to remember name - places and dates.

   26 Dec 50 at HWACH’ON (CT8617) the Engr Bn was attached to the 27th Inf Regt, 10th Div because the Engr Bn was allegedly of no tactical value to the 10th Div.

4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (as of 11 Jan 51)
Mission of the Engr Bn was to repair roads and construct bridges ahead of the infantry.
After the Engr Bn left HWACH’ON (CT8617) on 26 Dec 50, his unit had not constructed any bridges nor have they laid any mines.
13 Jan 51 at SUSAN, PW heard from a fellow PW that the objective of the 10th Div was probably TAEGU (DQ 6368) or ANDONG (DR 6545).
Div, Regt, Bn CP’s were unknown.
PW knew nothing of mine laying activities or mine fields.

5. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted into the 1st Sqd, 1st Plat, Bridge Const Co, Engr Bn, 10th Div, 8 Apr 50 at SUKCHON (YD 5225).
Received 2 months of Engr training at SUKCHON and 2 months at P’YONGYANG.
While traveling from SUKCHON to SUSAN, the following places were passed:

PW claims that the 10th Div was never reorganized.
PW was separated from his unit on 11 Jan 51.

7. REPLACEMENTS:
PW stated that on 26 Dec 50 at HWACHON he saw 30 new recruits in his Bn.
These were the only replacements he has ever seen with 10th Div units.

8. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLIES:
PW stated that there had been only one issue of ammo at SOKCH’ON Jun 50. PW claims that his unit has never been engaged in combat.
PW stated that from Oct 50 to 11 Jan 51 his unit got food from whatever village they entered.

9. SIGNAL COMMUNICATION:
Communication between Co to Div was by telephone.
Below Co level, messengers were used.

10. MORALE:
The morale of the PW’s Company was very high because they were fighting for the unification of KOREA and were successful.

11. CCF:
PW has never met any CCF troops nor has he heard for any coordination between the CCF and the 10th Division.

12. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE:
a. Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
a. PW voluntarily surrendered because he was disarmed; he was also injured. If it were not for these circumstances, he claims that he would not have surrendered.
b. Did you see any United Nations leaflets, or hear any loudspeaker broadcasts?
a. PW has not seen any UN leaflets.
c. Can you describe what they said?
a. Negative.
d. What was your reaction to them?
a. Negative.
e. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcast? What did they say or do?
