2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was under the impression that just talking was all that was necessary. He seemed unintelligent. Information considered fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
20 Aug 50: PW was inducted into the NKA at KAESONG (開城). He was assigned to the 6th Div Replacement training Bn and received 40 days of basic training.
1 Oct 50: PW started retreating with the NKA and reached an area 60 km south of KANGGYE and received further training. The unit he joined was the 6th Co, 2nd Bn, 15th Regt, 6th Div, V Corps.
15 Nov 50: The 15th Regt started is march and reached the vicinity of KAECHON. The troops started preparation for its march southward which consisted of washing up.
3 Dec 50: The 15th Regt started for the 38th parallel. Those soldiers who lacked equipment and weapons were issued them at a point 20 km from the point of march (Place and name and location unk).
20 Dec 50: The 2nd Bn of the 15th Regt reached the 38th parallel. Location unk. For a few days they went from village to village trying to find a gap through which they could advance south.
22 Dec 50: The 2nd Bn crossed the 38th and reached CHAWON RI (慈元里). The Unit prepared for the attack on HONGCH’ONG (洪川).
1 Jan 51: Upon arrival at HONGCH’ONG, since there were no UN forces, the Unit started its march toward HOENGSONG (洪城) along the highway and reached their destination on 3 Jan 51.
6 Jan 51: After 3 days of preparation the unit started for WONJU on the eve of the 6 Jan 51. The unit arrived during early morning and soon thereafter the PW was captured.

The 6th Div had 3 Regts. The 15the Regt plus the 657th and 659th. The latter two are believed to be code numbers.

Psychological Warfare:
Did you surrender? No.
Did you see any UN leaflets or hear loudspeaker broadcast? Yes, I was the planes dropping the leaflets at HOENG-SONG but I didn’t see the leaflets myself.
Did you hear the troops discussing it and what did they say?
The others said the gist of the leaflets was to find and opportunity to escape and surrender to the UN forces by walking towards them with their hands up.
