a. Did you surrender voluntarily? If so, why?
A. PW did not voluntarily surrender to the ROK troops, although he wanted to. He had not had the opportunity to run away from the squad or plat leaders.
b. Did you see any United Nations leaflets or hear any loudspeaker broadcast?
A. PW saw leaflets at PUNG MYON on Nov 50. He did not hear any loudspeaker broadcasts.
c. Can you describe what they said?
A. The leaflet which the PW read stated that winter was approaching and the weather was becoming very cold; it prompted immediate surrender with the promise of warm food and clothing.
d. What was your reaction to them?
A. After reading the leaflet, the PW was in doubt whether the leaflet was telling the truth or not.
e. Did you hear other soldiers discuss leaflets or broadcasts? What did they say or do?
A. The reaction of his fellow troops to the leaflets was unfavorable. It seems that the propaganda given to them by their officers seems stronger. The officers stated that if they surrendered, they would be tortured and killed.
