PW was observant and his information is reliable. He possessed good memory and spoke very freely. PW has considerable knowledge of supply obtained while working for the government ration board and while attending supply school in P’YONGYANG.
3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:Chronology
5 Jul 50 - PW was inducted in NKA in CHINNAMP’O (鎭南浦). 572nd Ind Regt with 2700 men was activated 5 Jul 50. For 1 week they were given close-order drill (Soviet System). 8 hrs a day.
10 Aug 50 - Departed CHINNAMP’O with 2790 men and arrived in KWANGJU (光州) D/A 18 Sep 50 via SEOUL (서울) TAEJON (大田) and I-RI (裡里). Enroute they were strafed and bombed by US Aircraft F51s and F80’s. Lost approximately 150 men, 3 trucks with supplies, 4 HMG and 4 76 mm guns. Total of 2600 men of 572nd Regt arrived in KWANGJU. For 2 weeks they were on guard duty.
28 Sep 50 - The 1st Bn of 572nd Ind Regt remained in KWANGJU. The 2nd and 3rd Bn went to MOKP’O (木浦) and KUNSAN (群山).
29 Sep 50 - 1st Bn of 572nd Indep Regt at HWASUN (和順). Received orders to withdraw to TAEJON (大田). All three Bns of 572 indep regt retreated. PW with his supply unit remained with Regt Hq and withdrew o/a 2400 hrs, 29 Sep 50 by train destination TAEJON. Estimated 300 men were aboard train.
30 Sep 50 - 300 men disembarked due to damage to RR caused by US Aircraft, in HAMNYOL (咸悅). PW and 3 others stayed here by order of EXECUTIVE OFFICER of 572nd Ind Regt to confiscate necessary train. PW found the wagons but no horses. He intended to communicate with the unit to notify them of the situation and walked approximately 15 km NE of HAMNYOL, but was captured by UN Forces.

Present Disposition (PW’s own Unit) as of 28 Sep 50:
The 2nd and 3rd Bns of 572 Ind Regt were located in MOKP’O (木浦) and KUNSAN (群山). The 1st Bn was in HWASUN (和順).

Training and Experience of Personnel:
The entire personnel of 572 Supply Unit of 572 Ind Regt were given a 3 months course in supply at P’YONGYANG. It was a proposed 6 months course under War Dept, but was cut to 3 months. After completion of the course, he was conscripted into NKA.
Leaflets:
PW was a leaflet printed by the UN Forces when he was at a drinking party with the members of the South Korean Communists Party in KWANGJU. He believed the leaflets.
Provision Necessary to Maintain 572nd Ind Regt:
3,800 lb a day was needed to feed the 2800 men of 572nd Ind Regt.
