PW was cooperative and appeared to be intelligent. Considered reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
14 Jul 50 - Conscripted into NKPA, P'YONGYANG. PW and 5 others left P'YONGYANG, by truck, same day.
15 Jul 50 - Arrived SEOUL. Promoted to Jr Lt (少尉).
16 Jul 50 - Assigned to Ⅰ Corps Hq, SONGHWAN (成歡). Left SEOUL. Arrived SONGHWAN same day. Assigned as Liaison Officer, Rear Command, Ⅰ Corps Hq.
19 Jul 50 - Moved to CHONDONG (全東), 12 km N of CHOCH'IWON.
31 Jul 50 - Moved to TAEJON (大田).
19 Aug 50 - Moved to HWANGGAN (黃澗). Located within 720 meters for RR tunnel which was used as Hq. Under heavy air attack.
20 Aug 50 - Withdrew to YONGDONG (永同) as result of constant air interdiction.
25 Aug 50 - Returned to HWANGGAN, occupying same tunnel (19 Aug).
30 Aug 50 - Evacuated tunnel, HWANGGN. NKPA Field GHQ, SANGJU (尙州) to occupy tunnel (hearsay from fellow officers). Moved to "CHIKCHISA" Temple (直指山), 8 km E of KUMCH'ON (金泉).
5 Sep 50 - Moved to "HWAJUK"TONG (花竹同) 12 km SW of SONGJU (星州).
10 Sep 50 - Moved to "CHIKCHISA" (reason: CHIKCHISA was rail terminus for through rail transportation of supplies from SEOUL. CHIKCHISA-HWANGGAN RR unserviceable as result of air interdiction.
24 Sep 50 - Withdrew to TAEJON for tactical reasons. US Army units approaching KUMCH'ON (hearsay).
27 Sep 50 - Withdrew to CHOCH'IWON via KUMCH'ON YONGDONG, TAEJON. Ⅰ Corps Hq ordered dissolved. Hq and Service Group personnel instructed to return to respective homes, N. KOREA, in groups of 5 or less to avoid detection.
(Note: Believes Hq high ranking officers, including CG, fled in northeast direction, on foot, towards T'AEBAEK (太白) mountain range extending N to S. Believes, further, they will attempt to escape north along the crest or slopes of this mountain range.)
PW discarded uniform for civilian clothes.
28 1200 K Sep 50 - Captured in MUNUI, 15 km S of CHONGJU by ROK Army unit.

Foreign Elements:
19 Jul - 19 Sep 50 - Four (4) Soviet Military Advisors (believed to be of field grade, Soviet Army) first observed at Ⅰ Corps Hq, CHONDONG (see Chronology), and on many other occasions, thereafter, riding in jeeps to and from NKPA Field GHQ and Ⅰ Corps Hq. Dressed in civilian suits. Unknown whether attached to Field GHQ or Ⅰ Corps Hq. Names unknown, however PW can identify faces of two (2) of the four (4).
19 Sep 50, Military Advisory Party left Ⅰ Corps Hq, CHIKCHISA, by jeep and did not return. Believes they returned to North KOREA.
Others - Soviet Military Advisors were also attached to Ⅱ Corps Hq (Location unknown), south of 38° parallel (hearsay from fellow officers).

Supplies:
27 Sep 50 - Following supplies and weapons abandoned in TAEJON during Ⅰ Corps Hq and Rear Command withdrawal from the city: 500 x M1891/30 Rifles (including some PPsh M1941 SMG (new). Small arms, artillery ammunition (quantity, unknown), 10 x 55 gallon drums gasoline, 60 tons rice.
Remarks: CHOCH'IWON, 27 Sep 50, 15 x trucks set afire to prevent capture by US Army.

Rations:
Rice rations were distributed to troops in two (2) categories:
Category Ⅰ - 800 grams. Infantry and administrative personnel.
Category Ⅱ - 1,000 grams. Armored, Engr and Arty personnel. In practice, however, only 600-700 grams were available for Category Ⅰ and 800-900 grams for Category Ⅱ Troops. In all cases rations were entirely dependent on rice supplies available. In most cases, Divisions within Ⅰ Corps Area were required to meet 70% fo rice needs through local procurements, Corps Supply furnishing remaining 30%. Rice shipped to Corps Supply via rail, thence distributed to Division by truck dispatched from respective units and/or Corps Transportation Bn.

Weapons:
Acute shortage of small arms. Only 20% of Div request filled. Delivered same day.

Ammunition:
Amount for Div distribution determined at Corps Hq. Quantity unknown, however general shortage of small arms ammunition evident.

Arms Manufacture:
1. PPsh M1941 SMG in production at arms factory in or around P'YONGYANG (hearsay from fellow officers, Sep 50, TAEJON).

Armor:
O/a 24-27 Sep 50 50 - 30 x T-34/85 medium tanks observed travelling singly and in pairs, over highway, through TAEJON in direction of CHOCH'IWON.

Medical:
1. Casualty Rate: In combat along NAKTONG River, Aug, Sep:
Dead - 20%
Wounded - 35%
Death rate among wounded - 12%
Remarks: Above figures hearsay from Medical Officer, Ⅰ Corps Hq.
2. Communicable Disease: Cholera outbreak in Ⅰ Corps unit or units along NAKTONG River. Area of units affected unknown, however outbreak localized. (hearsay from Medical Officer, Ⅰ Corps Hq, 30 Aug 50).
