3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:SEOUL Regiment:
The SEOUL Regiment consisted of 4 Battalions; the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions. In each of the Battalions, there were the following types of Leaders:
Organization Leader
Mass Cultural Leader
Education Leader
Young Group Leader
There were 680 men to each Battalion.
In each of the battalions, there were 4 companies; the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Companies.
There was a special Cultural Leader attached to the four companies of each battalion.
The SEOUL Regiment specialized in the indoctrination of troops.
Chronology:
Before entering the Army, the PW was employed by the SINUIJU Textile Factory where he was chief of the Youth Communist Group. The PW was employed from March 49 to 9 Aug 50. On 7 Aug 50, received orders to report to the Mobilization Section at PYONGAN BUKTO, CHONGJU District’s Metropolitan Police Force. The PW was inducted into the NK Army on 19 Aug 50 and was made a 1st Lt. He also was told that he belonged to the SEOUL Regiment and to report to SEOUL. Due to transportation difficulties, the PW arrived at SEOUL on 17 Aug 50.
On 18 Aug 50, PW's 1st Bn moved towards SUSAK, armed with only rifles. The Bn remained in the SUSAK area for 2 days. PW decided to desert to his home. The PW was captured by the American Forces.
