Subject appeared to be of average intelligence and talked freely. Reliability fair.
3. REMARKS:A. CHRONOLOGY:
Subject was forcefully inducted into 559th Unit on 7 Aug 50 at SHIN KE WUP (新溪邑). Subject did not know whether 559th was a regt or a bn.
B. ORGANIZATION & STRENGTH:
559th was organized at SARI WON (沙里院) on 7 Aug 50. Strength as approx 670 men. There were 3 Infantry companies, 1 artillery company, 1 heavy machine gun company, and 1 independent company in this unit. Each of these companies was composed of 3 platoons. There were 150 men in each inf company, 70 men in the heavy machine gun company, and 61 men in the artillery company.
Independent company was composed of one antitank platoon (15 men), one 45mm arty platoon (20 men), and one communication platoon (8 men).
Hq of 559th Unit was located in SARI WON (沙里院) until 22 Aug 50. The unit moved to MA DONG (馬洞) at that time and remained there until 15 Sep 50.
On 15 Sep 50 the unit left for SEOUL and arrived in SEOUL on 18 Sep 50. On 19 Sep 50, 559th Unit left SEOUL for the purpose of defending INCHON. Approx 8 km W of SEOUL, this unit was hit by American artillery.
Subject deserted unit here and headed for KAI SONG (開城). Subject did not know which way 559th unit went.
C. WEAPONS:
Basic loud of each men was a rifle and 100 rounds of ammunition.
