PW was working in a coal mine as a powder man for three years prior to being inducted into the NK Army on 16 Jul 50.
a. Chronology:
PW was inducted into the NK Army on 16 Jul 50 at CHOLON. PW received 30 days basic training at SEOUL. (18th Regt) PW’s unit left SEOUL about 1900 hrs 15 Sep 50 toward INCHON. Arrived about 8 km SE of INCHON at 0400 hrs 17 Sep 50.
b. Unit Organization and Strength:
(1) 18th Div, 2nd Regt, 3rd Bn, 2nd Co, 3rd Plt. PW did not know the strength of the Division. His Company consisted of 90 men.
(2) PW did not know of actual battle organization or strength because he arrived at the battle line a day ago. 16 Sep 50.
(3) PW said that due to heavy firing his unit was scattered around the area where he was captured.
c. Equipment:
PW saw three (3) tanks on the way about 0200 hrs 17 September. PW’s platoon had three (3) PPSH Tommy Guns.
d. PW’s unit’s duty was to occupy a town 16 km S of SEOUL but at about 2000 hrs 16 September, his unit moved to the place where PW was captured.
e. PW heard that 18th Div was organized at CHOLWON, on or about 23 July. PW believes that the 18th Div Hqs was in SEOUL. PW’s Bn was the only unit in front line.
f. PW left his unit early morning of 17 Sep when his unit was bombed and shelled by US while on the read. PW did not know the present location of his unit.
g. Personalities:
(1) SOK, Chang Sok, Company Commander, Age 28, Height 5' 7" and dark complexion.
h. Morale:
LOW.
