Hailin Airfield (See Sketch):
Observation- PW observed the HAILIN (海龍) Airfield on numerous occasions up to Oct 27 from a road 500m from the airfield.
Location- The airfield was located roughly 2km SSW of the HAILIN RR Station, 5km SW of the MUTANCH’IANG RR Station, and 2 km W of the 100 m wide HAILIN River.
Area Dimensions - The grass covered airfield had no marked boundary. The terrain surrounding the field was flat farm land spotted with farm houses. The field was roughly circular and measured about 4km in diameter.
Runway - PW could not determine the exact number, but believed there were several intersecting asphalt runways. Re noticed white strips in front of the hangars, which were believed to be aprons.
Buildings - PW vaguely remembered about 10 hangers on the N side of the field and another group of 10 similar hangars along the S side of airfield. Each hangar was constructed of sheet metal or concrete and measured about 12m x 7m x 8m. Hangars had arched roofs.
Technical Facilities - PW observed a wind sock on the SW portion of the field, but no other technical facilities were seen.
Aircraft - PW believes there were CCF fighters in the hangars He observed air-cooled single-engine fighters which he heard were former Japanese Aircraft, operating off the field.
Comment - This airfield was bult by the Japanese and was taken over by the CCF and operated with no improvements.
PW seems very vague on the airfield facilities and the general layout of the field.

Coal Mines:
PW heard that the coal mines in LISHUCHEN had a production rate of 6,000 tons of Bituminous coal daily. He heard there were 5 shafts. Heard part of the coal was shipped to North KOREA.
