2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was not observant. He told only what was necessary.

Chronology:
12 Sep 46: Volunteered for 8th Route Army at CHILIN-SHENG (吉林省) when 15 years of age. Attached to the 47th Corps Hq (軍團司令部) located at TUNGHUA (通化), CHILIN-SHENG (吉林省).
15 Mar 50: Departed TUNGHUA along with 6,000 other Koreans who had been with the 47th Corps. These men were formed into the 7th Div. PW was made a Sgt (中士) and a squad leader of 2nd Sqd, 1st Plat, 3rd Co, Training Bn, 7th Div.
18 Apr 50: Arrived SONCH’ON (宣川). 7th Div was dissolved and PW became sqd ldr of 2nd Sqd, 1st Plat, Transportation Corps, 25th Regt, 10th Div.
17 Jul 50: Departed SONCH’ON (宣川) by train.
20 Jul 50: Arrived TAEJON (大田) after passing through' P’YONG-YANG and SEOUL.
24 Jul 50: Arrived SONGJU (星州) on foot.
25 Jul 50: PW arrived KORYONG (高靈) on foot and transported supplies to the troops.
2 Oct 50: Started to retreat.
5 Oct 50: Captured by ROK troops at SANGJU (尙州).

47th Corps Hq:
Located approx 1 km N of TUNGHUA RR station. A 2-story concrete structure within the main business area. Hq said to have formerly been a department store.
Approximately 100 Japanese were attached to the three (3) divisions in this corps. There were no officers. Most of them were technicians such as medics, drivers and signal troops. The 28th, 29th and 39th Divisions composed the 47th Corps. Other attached units were unknown. 50,000 in the corps.
29th Div was located approximately 2 km E of TUNGHUA RR station in a former Japanese Army training camp. 39th Div was located approximately 2 km SW of TUNGHUA RR station in a former Japanese Army training camp. 28th Div was located approximately 2 km 3 of TUNGHUA RR station in a former Japanese Army training camp.

Field Hospital:
Located adjacent to the 47th Corps Hq, 1 km N of TUNGHUA RR station. A 2-story concrete structure 40 x 12 m and identical to the Corps Hq. Facilities for 100 patients. At least half of the medical personnel attached here were Japanese. Malaria was the most prevalent disease.

Truck Repair Shop:
Located near 47th Corps Hq 1 km N of TUNGHUA RR station. The Hq had approximately 10 x GAZ-51 trucks, both old and new.

Signal station:
Located near 47th Corps Hq 1 km N of TUNGHUA RR station. Approximately 25 soldiers. Antennas 15 m high were seen.
In Mar 50 when the Koreans were to leave for KOREA, the Koreans were instructed not to reveal the fact that they were from MANCHURIA under any circumstances under penalty of death.
TUNGHUA (通化) in CHILIN-SHENG (吉林省) had population of 100,000. The composition was as follows: Manchurian and Chinese - 75%, Koreans - 15%, Japanese - 10%, Russians and Europeans - 0%. No distinction was made between Manchurians and Chinese.
