2. ASSESSMENT:
Informant was cooperative and talkative. He seemed average in intelligence and observation. The information appears to be fairly reliable.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
5 Apr 49 - PW was inducted into the NKA in P’YONGYANG. Assigned to city security unit.
30 Jun 49 - Completed 3 months training in P’YONGYANG as a Pvt.
1 Jul 50 - Assigned as a guard to several factories in P’YONGYANG Area,
10 Jun 50 - Attached to NCO School in P’YONGYANG.
10 Jul 50 - Commissioned a Jr Lt
11 Jul 50 - Assigned to KYONGGI-Do Regt (code: 300 Unit), 3rd Bn. The Regt was shipped by train to KAESONG.
13 Jul 50 - Arrived at SEOUL.
23 Jul 50 - PW and all in his 2nd Plat, 5th Co, 3rd Bn were transferred to SUWON.
5 Aug 50 - Returned to SEOUL with the 2nd Plat.
7 Aug 50 - Arrived at INCHON with the 3rd Bn.
17 Aug 50 - Left for KANGHWA-TO with 5th Co, who were assigned as Security Guards for the Peoples’ Committee.
18 Sep 50 - Heard that UN Forces landed at INCHON. 5th Co retreated to CHANGFUNG.
10 Oct 50 - PW and 4 others fled from CHANGFUNG to vicinity of KAESONG.
12 Oct 50 - PW surrendered to UN Forces.

Unit Organization and Strength:

The KYONGGI-Do Regt (code: 300 unit) was first activated in P’YONGYANG on 11 Jul 50, with a strength of 2,100 officers and men. The unit consisted of 100 officers and 2,000 men and was commanded by a Col.

Unit Duties:

The purpose for the activation of this unit was to set up a guard for the factories, plants, and warehouses located in the newly occupied territory. Guards were placed at strategic spots to prevent pilfering and damaging of equipment in plants and factories.

Communications:

The unit did not have any organic means of communication. The men utilized whatever telephones or radios they found in the newly occupied areas to get their messages through. This unit did not have any priority in securing communication equipment and transportation vehicles.

Morale and Propaganda:

Morale was very low in this unit due to lack of rations and supplies. Their morale was also lowered by the UN propaganda leaflets, which showed that NK was losing the war.
