LOCATION & ACTIVITIES OF UNIT:
The 9th Division Hq on 23 Sep 50, moved from KUMCHON to TAEJON to regroup.
It is believed that the infantry regiments are with the Division Headquarters.

PERSONAL & UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted 15 Jan 49, at HWANGJU with 50 others and assigned to HWANGJU Training Unit (Bn strength).
Between 15 Jan 49, & 2 Feb 50, the PW was trained as a battalion clerk.
On 10 Feb 50, the PW was field promoted to 2nd Lt and transferred to the 3rd Brigade Constabulary Brigade stationed at KYOKSONG GUN, CHANGUN MYON. Between 10 Feb 50, to 30 June 50, the PW was the chief clerk for the Brigade Training & Replacement Section.
On 5 Jul 50, the PW was transferred to the 9th Div Hq at KAESONG. Departed this point 9 Aug and finally reached YONGDONG 25 Sep 50.

REPLACEMENTS:
The 9th Division's replacements consisted mostly of conscripted South Koreans from the SEOUL area.
Most replacements did not receive training. They were issued weapons only upon arrival at the front line (if & when available).
The South Korean replacements were not trusted and were usually controlled by North Koreans.

FOOD & AMMO:
Ammo for the division came chiefly from SEOUL by truck at night. Most of the ammo trucks failed to reach the front lines because of air attacks.
Limited amount of food was brought from SEOUL. The troops lived off the land most of the time.

ARTILLERY & AMMO:
The 9th Division lost all of its SP Guns (self propelled) and most of its artillery.

MORALE:
Morale among the officers and men of the Division Hq was very low. Most of the officers in division level feel that they will be annihilated. They all want to surrender.
