PW surrendered voluntarily with a "Good Conduct" leaflet to the 27th BCT. PW was in good physical condition. PW was of above average intelligence. Was a common laborer prior to entering service. Information obtained is considered fairly reliable. Recommended for further interrogation.
3. CHRONOLOGY:PW was drafted in the NK Army at SUKCHON. PYONGGAN-NAMDO on 3 Apr 50. He received 2 months of basic training. Departed SUKCHON on 27 Jun 50, arrived PYONGYONG on the very same day. Departed PYONG YONG on 27 June end arrived in SEOUL 8 days later Route taken: SEOUL, YONGDONG PO, SUWON, CHONAN, CHOCHlWAN, TAEJON, KUMCHON, KORYONG and WORAM. At WORAM, joined the 27th Regt on 28 Jul 50.
b. Unit Organization & Strength: The 10th Div composed of 25th 26th (?) and the 27th Regt. Regts composed of 3 Bns. Each Ban composed of 4 Companies. 1 Co in Bn was called the Automatic Weapons Co.

27th Regt - 5 AA guns (cal unk), 2 - 105mm guns.
Plt - 1 PPSH. Officers armed with tommy gun.
Auto Wpns Co - 12 to 13 PPHSs
No tank support. The 1st Bn had 1 truck to transport food and wounded men.
d. Unit Duties: Mission of the 27th Regt was to defend the town of SONGJU.
e. Disposition: The 27th Regt was located via WAEGWAN - SONGJU ares. CP location unknown. PW observed mines buried in road vic (1133.4-1450.3). He also observed approximately 100 troops dug in in the same vicinity.
f. Communication: Russian made telephone was used between Company and Battalion Headquarters.
g. Intentions: 1st Bn of the 27th Regt was to defend SONGJU. PW overheard conversation that 2 other Bn were sent to defend KUMCHON on 18 Sept 50.

4. GENERAL:a. Replacement: 400 replacement arrived on or about 4 Sept 50.
b. US POWS: Saw approx 80 US POWs and 10 SK POWs at TAEJON Police Headquarters.
c. South Korean sentiments: At SEOUL, the people were forced to greet the NK Trps.
d. Russian Advisors: 3 or 4 Russian officers instructed NK troops at SUKCHON, PYONGAN NAMDO.
e. PW’s Desires: PW stated that if permitted would like to join the SK Army.
