4. LOCATION AND ACTIVITIES OF UNITS: (as of 6 Feb 51)
V Corps Hq was loc approx 12km east of HONGCH’ON (DS0272) in village of KARE GOL (가레골) as of 31 Jan 51.
7th NKA Div Hq was loc at YONGTON (village approx. 14km south of KARE GOL) on 5 Feb 51.
12th Div Hq was loc approx. 8km northwest of HOENGSONG (DS1149) in village of ANHUNG-NI (DS0063) as of 31 Jan 51.
PW has heard that there are CCF troops in vic of HONGCH’ON.
The V NKA Corps (6th, 7th and 12th Div) has been “resting” since 10 Jan 51. Corps was waiting for ammunition, small arms, mortars, and arty which Corps was supposed to receive o/a 1 Mar 51. These supplies were supposed to be delivered by trucks. Upon receiving these supplies V Corps’ 3 Div were to attack WONJU (DS0633), CHECH’ON (DS3010) and CH’UNGJU (DR0592) respectively. PW believed that V Corps has changed its mission since Corps has been thrown “off balance” by attacks from advancing UN forces.
PW does not know how 9th and 27th Div are to be employed. He added that this is because 2 divisions are a part of II NKA Corps, not V Corps.
From 1 Dec 50 until 31 Dec 50, 1 CCF Bn was attached to V NKA Corps for liaison purposes. CCF Bn had maintained liaison with its parent unit by courier.
