PW was intelligent, however, information limited. Information considered reliable.
Chronology:
PW was inducted into the ROKA at MASAN on 14 Jul 50.
On 20 Aug 50 the PW was captured at OKCHONGDONG (玉井里) by the NKA with 24 other ROK soldiers.
22 Aug 50 the PW as a NKA PW was taken to WONJU on foot and thereafter transported by vehicle to KANGGYE, arriving approx a month later.
The PsW were grouped into 10’s and sent to live with the farmers under NKA guards.
During the early part of Nov 50, the PsW were assembled at TAEDOK MYON (大德里). The total number of ROK soldiers assembled, numbered approx 2,000.
O/a 15 Nov 50, PW and 24 other ROK PsW were selected for duty with the stretcher plat, 2nd Regt, 12th Inf Div.
The PW’s unit followed the RR to KOMBULANG (건불랑) and passed through the TAPAK (大■) mountain range.
The unit the PW was attached to participated in battle at HURIRI (헐■) after crossing the 38th. This was the first battle since leaving the north. KIA unk, wounded ten.
The unit participated in battle one week later after following the same mountain range. This battle took place o/a 10 Dec 50. Approx 20 ROK PsW were taken.
31 Dec 50 PW and 15 others were captured by the UN Forces in the vic of CHUNGBONGRI. The PW stated that the mission of the 2nd Regt was to move into the rear of the UN line and conduct guerrilla warfare. The route taken on the day of capture by the 2nd Regt was the highway from CHUNGCHON to HONGSON.
