2. ASSESSMENT:
Information fairly reliable, PW was of low mentality, unobservant, and wasn’t too cooperative. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
6 Oct 50: Conscripted, assigned to the 105th Arty Regt, Mortar Co, 1st Mortar Plat, at SINUIJU for 15 days training on the mortar.
5 Nov 50: Reassigned to I Corps, 1st Rifle Bn, 2nd Co, at SUKCHU, received 10 days of Inf combat training.
15 Nov 50: The 1st and 2nd Co of the 1st Rifle Bn separated from parent unit and independently formed Engr Bn at TAEGWAN, and received training in Engineering by platoon.
2 Dec 50: Men of Engr Bn moved down to P’YONGYANG arrived 7 days later.
12 Dec 50: The Engr Bn was ordered to aid the reconstruction of TAEDONG River bridge which the 474th Engr Unit (Bn size) started.
20 Dec 50: The bridge reconstruction was completed, 1st Co of the Engr Bn remained in P’YONGYANG, whereas 2nd and 3rd Co moved south to KUMUNRI, about 12 km N of KORANGPO’RI on foot, Movement was at night only. Reason for movement - SEOUL was already invaded.
27 Dec 50: Arrived in KUMUN’RI, PW and 9 others (including Plat Ldr) were ordered to go on a reconnaissance patrol of the IMJIN River bridge - whether it was out or not.
28 Dec 50: PW and four others were captured by the ROKA, the whereabout of the remaining five men unk. PW believed, they were killed during an air attack.

Unit Organization and Strength:
Original Organization and Strength:
The Engr Bn was directly attached to the I Corps. It was composed of 3 Cos and numbered about 210 men. 3rd Co consisted of 63 men which made up 3 Plats.
Last Known Composition of Unit:
Was intact when last seen at KUMUNRI on 27 Dec 50.

Equipment (as of 27 Dec 50):
1 Russian made truck for hauling engineering equipment, 3 Russian rifles per plat - 100 rds per rifle, 2 land mines per plat.

Unit Disposition:
PW believes the Engr Bn to be in the vicinity of KORANGPORI however due to air attacks large portions of Bn personnel has been routed.

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of unit according to PW, was very low due to the lack of weapons and forceful induction.
PW has never seen propaganda leaflets nor heard propaganda broadcast at anytime while he was in the NKA.
