PW had very little information due to his short military career. Seemed apprehensive of his fate because he is a S Korean. Not recommended for further interrogation.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
9 Jul 50 - Inducted at SEOUL. PW states he was forced into the army by the coercive Democratic Youth Party. An estimated 1,300 SEOUL youths were inducted at this time under similar conditions.
15 Jul 50 - 1,300 S Korean replacements departed (marched) SEOUL. No weapons issued. No previous training.
O/a 18 Aug 50 - An estimated 200 replacements distributed among units of the 2nd Bn bivouaced in the mountains approx 4 km S KUMCH’ON. Arrival of replacements brought battalion up to about 500 (hearsay). Other battalions of the 8th Regt not seen in the immediate area. 50% of the battalion armed with Russian rifles, US M-1’s and US carbines. No LMG’s, HMG’s or Mortars.
O/a 2 Sep 50 - 15 men from 3rd Plt, 4th Co, 2nd Bn dispatched on ammunition details. An NCO in charge of detail led the man to an ammunition dump located 200-300 m W of the NAKTONG River and approx 8 km N of WAEGWAN. Ammunition dumps, consisting mostly of 82-mm and 120-mm Mortar shells, were dispersed on both sides of a single lane dirt road. Ammunition piles camouflaged with leaves. Ammunition hauled by trucks up to this point from KUMCH’ON and TAEJON (hearsay).
A box of 82-mm Mortar shells (3-4 shells) plus a few hand grenades distributed to each man. NCO in charge said their destination was 8th Regt. Ammunition detail waded the NAKTONG River in the immediate vicinity of the ammunition dump on the following night.

Chornology:
4 Sep 50 - PW lagged behind and lost contact with the group. Discarded his load and wandered about in the mountain losing all sense of direction.
5 Sep 50 - Arrived on a ridge line from where the RR bridge (demolished at WAEGWAN (倭館) could be seen approx 4 km to the SW. Then entered a small village in search for food. Captured by US infantrymen (Co B, 7th Cav Regt).

Armor:
O/a 3 Sep 50 - Observed 5 x T-34/85 tanks heading north at a point on the WAEGWAN-INDONG Highway, approx 8 km N of WAEGWAN. Tanks were probably returning to respective place of cover or concealment since it was nearing day break. (Opinion)
