2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was fairly cooperative and intelligent. Judgment of distance was accurate. Reliability - Fair.

3. ARTILLERY:
a. Unit Designation:
NKA 13th Div, 21st Regt, Arty Btry.

b. Unit Organization:
Equipment in Btry - 4 x 76mm Howitzers.
68 x 7.62mm M1936 Carbines.
6 x 7.62mm TT M1933 TOKAREV Pistols.
5 UNA F-31 Field Telephones.
10 Directors.
6 Binoculars.
All the above equipments was Russian made.

c. Unit Strength
As of Sep 50, there were 74 men in the Btry.

d. Training (Location)
The officers and the NCOs of the NKA 13th Div, 21st Regt were trained at YONGAMP’O (龍岩浦), KOREA.

e. Combat Experience
21st Regt engaged in battle at YONGAMP’O (龍岩浦) for about a month in Aug 50 and one month at CHANGCH’ON (場川) from Aug to Sep.

f. Casualties
Three killed and two wounded with 20 missing due to air attacks.

g. Counter-Battery (Effect)
There was counter-battery fire from the US Army but, the shells burst to the rear and front of the position area. No casualties reported.

h. Air Attack
Everyone was afraid of air attacks. Hid in ditches or under trees until aircraft disappeared.

i. Armament
Armed with 4 x 76mm M1927 Russian howitzers. Mounted on rubber wheel carriage and drawn by horses. The ammo - Fixed type.

j. Battery Organization: 4 guns to a Btry
Ammo (Amount): Approx 380 rd.
Ammo Supply Point: Ammunition was drawn from 13th Div, ammo supply point.
Ammo Availability: There was not enough ammo in the Btry.
Restrictions on Fire: No restrictions were placed on firing.
AP Ammo: 5 armor piercing shells to a Btry.
Ammo Transportation: Russian made trucks were used for transporting ammunition.
Ammo Expenditure: Approx 20 - 30 rounds were fired per day.

k. Roads
Regular dirt roads were utilized for transporting ammo.

l. Camouflage: Natural vegetation and brush.
Slit Trenches: Slit trenches were dug.
Digging In (Guns): No, guns were not dug in.
Employment (Direct or General Support): General support.
Employment (Offense or Defense): Normally intended as defensive weapon.

m. Inf-Arty Team: An Arty Btry (4 x 76mm guns) to an Inf Regt and an Arty Plat to an Inf Bn.

n. Inf-Arty Team (Commander): When an Inf-Arty team is operating, it is commanded by the Inf commander.

o. Communication (Availability): Field telephones were the only available source of communication.
Observer: One observer (Btry CO) adjusted fire.
Communication By field telephone.

p. Battery Fire Control (Type): Concentration missions were fixed for the most part. Their primary mission was counter-battery.

q. Liaison
Executive Inf Regt was assigned to the Arty Btry and maintained liaison between the Inf unit and Btry unit. Received orders from the ass’t division commander and regimental commander.

r. Calibration
When detailed info concerning distance and angle was given by the Btry CO, the gun chief then calibrated the weapon.

s. Losses (Guns):
Three lost in battle.
