13 Dec 50 - Division arrived HWACHON.
15 Dec 50 - Division arrived YANGGU.
17 Dec 50 - Division arrived INJE.
23 Dec 50- 1st Bn left INJE.
2 Jan 51 - Battalion arrived HONGCHON.
5 Jan 51 - Battalion arrived HOENGSONG.
7 Jan 51 - Battalion entered WONJU with 7th Regt. Withdrew from WONJU to 12 km N of WONJU.
11 Jan 51 - Withdrew 30 km N of WONJU.
23 Jan 51 - Regt arrived at PYONGCHANG (DS 4735) and joined the division. Constructed defense line.
30 Jan 51 - Withdrew 30 km N of PYONGCHANG.
11 Feb 51 - Arrived at CHONGSON (DS 7037). Contacted UN Forces.
22 Feb 51 - Div left CHONGSON.
25 Feb 51 - Div arrived at SOHANGNI (DS 6157). PW left behind due to typhus.
28 Feb 51 - Captured at SOHANGHI (DS 6157).

c. Supply:
(1) Food: Procured from villages. No food received from rear.
(2) Ammo: Resupplied with 3 grenades, 50 rd of rifle ammo 10 Feb 51, 16 km N of PYONGCHANG. Ammo brought by bearers.
(3) Clothing: 80% of 1st Bn issued winter clothing at HOENGSONG 5 Jan 51. Brought to Bn by replacements from 38th Div.

d. Casualties:
70 KIA, 30 WIA, and 5 typhus cases in 1st Bn from 1 Jan to 25 Feb 51. Casualties inflicted by UN Forces at HWACHON, WONJU, and PYONGCHANG.

e. Morale:
Low, due to cold weather, lack of food and clothing.

f. UN PW:
Observed 5 US PW 10 Jan 51 at HOENGSON being marched North. US PW dressed in fatigues and pile jackets and in good physical condition. No insignia or patches observed.

g. Replacement:
1st Bn received 80 men from 38th Div as replacements 5 Jan 51 at HOENGSON. Each carried Russ rifle and 100-200 rd of ammo. Replacements brought 90 new sets of winter uniforms.

h. Psychological Warfare:
Read leaflets on two occasions. Determined to surrender after reading them, but due to strict surveillance of superiors, was not able to desert at an earlier date.
