FIELD REPORT (I CORPS IPW 26)　5 February 1951

1. PERSONAL DETAILS:

2. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Unit Strength:

UN air strikes caused severe casualties in his unit.

b. Disposition:
PW was separated from his unit for approx 4 days, so did not know where his unit was located.

c. Circumstances Under Which Captured:
Captured when he came down from the hills to look for food.

d. Mission:
Mission of his unit was to defend vic CS2138.

e. HAN River Crossing:
Unit crossed frozen HAN River on foot in vic SEOUL o/a 26 Jan 51. No bridging equipment was observed.

f. Effectiveness of Night Bombing:
Unit was subjected to two night bombings above and below the 38th parallel which caused approx 26 casualties in his unit.

g. Medical:
There is some type of contagious disease spreading in his unit.

h. Availability and Source of Maps:
Saw his Co Commander looking at a map.

i. Communications:
Unit uses copper telephone wire. Wire is laid on the ground. Whenever a unit moves wire is salvaged and reused. US wire is not used because CCF has sufficient amount of telephone wires. No wire tapping equipment available in PW unit nor did he hear of wire tapping being practiced by CCF. PW had no knowledge of code used for communications.
