3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
a. Chronology:
3 Aug 50 - Inducted into the ROK Army at KUMHAE (金海). After training one week, assigned to 1st Bn, 8th Regt, 7th ROK Div.
9 Aug 50 - One company of recruits while going to P’OHANG (浦項), was surrounded by the NKA at KIGYE (杞溪). Of 160 men, 115 were captured by the NKA 12th Div.
19 Aug 50 - The NKA divided the ROK PsW into 3 sections and assigned them to work as KPs, stretcher bearers and ammunition bearers. PW was assigned to the 81mm (US) mortar Co, 2nd Regt, 12th Div as ammo bearer.
15 Sep 50 - 12th Div withdrew from ANDONG (安東).
18 Sep 50 - 2nd Regt, 12th Div arrived TANYANG (丹陽). 2nd Regt Hq’s Unit and 3rd Bn went north. 1st and 2nd Bns of the 2nd Regt remained in the mountains near TANYANG (丹陽) for several days. Finally, the 2 Bns were surrounded by the ROK Army, so they hid in the mountains and retreated north along the SOBAEK Mountains (小白山脈).
30 Oct 50 - Arrived KARYOJU-RI (佳麗州里) 32 km N of CH’ORWON (鉄原) via ICH’ON (伊川) and CH’ORWON. By the order of the II Corps, the unit collected stragglers at KARYOJU-RI. The reorganized group of stragglers was forbidden to go further north and was ordered to conduct guerrilla activity. This guerrilla group was designated the 7th Regt, 27th Div and was composed of 1st Bn, 2nd Bn of 2nd Regt, 12th Div and 3rd Bn of 7th Regt, 27th Div.
15 Nov 50 - 7th Regt advanced to CH’ORWON and engaged in guerrilla warfare.
1 Jan 51 - Arrived YANGGU (楊口) via HWACH’ON. Acquired their food from the people of YANGGU. Rested for two days.
3 Jan 51 - Advanced to IMJYE (麟蹄). Crossed the 38th parallel at night.
5 Jan 51 - Arrived HONGCH’ON (洪川).
6 Jan 51 - Arrived at a point about 12 km N of WONJU (原州).
7 Jan 51 - Seven Co’s, approx 350 men entered WONJU (原州) city at 0400 hours. Surrounded by the US Army. Casualty rate among personnel believed to exceed 70%. PW captured by the US Army.

Composed of 27th, 12th, 6th and 38th Divs. V Corps hasn’t any Arty Regt because it operated in the mountains.

d. Supply:
NKA used captured ammo.
NKA 32nd Inf Regt engaged the ROK 8th Div at KUMCH’ON (金泉) and captured a large quantity of weapons and ammunition which was turned over to the 7th Regt.

1. Occupy WONJU (原州).
2. Capture as many weapons as possible.
3. Return to the 7th Regt CP located 12 km N of WONJU.

h. Replacements:
No replacements received.

i. Evacuation and Treatment of Wounded:
Light wounds were treated at the Regt aid station located approx 8 km behind the lines. The seriously wounded were evacuated on stretchers carried by civilians.
