2. ASSESSMENT:
Cooperative and in good physical condition.
Although illiterate he is quite intelligent and remembers details about his unit. Information appears reliable.

3. T/O & E AND STRENGTH OF UNITS: (as of 16 Nov 50)
125th Division is composed of the 373rd, 374th and 375th Regiments.
374th Regiment is composed of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions.
2nd Battalion is composed of 3 Rifle Companies plus Heavy Weapons Company.
4th Rifle Company is composed of 3 Rifle Platoons plus 60 mm Mortar Platoon.
1st Platoon is composed of 3 Squads with 10 to 13 men per squad.

Each Company in the 125th Division has one Korean interpreter who joined the division at TUNGHUA, MANCHURIA Oct 50.
The 125th Division is intact and under the same chain of command as it was prior to crossing the YALU River into KOREA. PW knows of no CCF personnel being integrated into NKA units.

4. PERSONAL AND UNIT HISTORY:
Inducted into the CNA. on 19 Dec 43 in KWANGSI SHENG. Captured by the CCF (42nd Army) on 19 Sep 49 at SHENYANG (MUKDEN) and inducted into the 42nd Army, 125th Division the same day.
Departed from SHENYANG from 20 Oct 49, marched with the entire 125th Division, and travelled via the following places:

Departed from TUNGHU on 15 Oct 50, marched with the entire 125th Division, and arrived at CHI-AN (BA 6355) on 19 Oct 50, Departed from CHI-AN op 19 Oct 50, marched with the 125th Division and crossed over the YALU River on a railroad bridge to MANPOJIN (BA7259), KOREA, during the night of 21 Oct 50. Continued marching (at night only) and arrived at approximately 1 Km southwest of POKCHON on 10 Nov 50.
On 13 Nov 50, after being attacked by ROK troops, 374th Regiment withdrew about 3 Km northward where personnel dug individual foxholes to protect them from constant air attacks (no permanent fortifications).
On the afternoon of 14 Nov 50, PW found UN leaflets which a friend read to him, telling of the good treatment that the UN affords PW’s. Therefore, the PW deserted the CCF on the night of 14 Nov 50,
When the PW surrendered, he was holding one of the Chinese language leaflets dropped by UN aircraft. ROK soldiers took this leaflet away from the PW.

5. FOOD AND AMMO SUPPLES:
When the 125th Division departed from TUNGHUA on 15 Nov 50, its personnel carried rations sufficient for two days. After this was exhausted personnel subsisted by confiscating food, first from MANCHURIAN, then from North Korean farmers. No other information.

6. MORALS:
Morale was low in the 125th Division because 70% of the division was composed of former CNA soldiers who would like to rejoin the CNA.

7. SIGNAL COMMUNICATIONS:
125th Division units have the following means of communication available:
Telephone - At Regiment and Battalion levels.
Signal Flare Pistol - At Division, Regt, Bn, and company levels.
Semaphore Signal Flag - At Division, Regt, Bn, and Company levels.
Bugle - At Division, Regt, Bn, Co, and Plat levels.
Whistle - At Division, Regt, Bn, Co, and, Plat levels.
Courier - At all levels.

8. GENERAL INFORMATION:
PW was not a volunteer for Korean Service; the 42nd Army is not a volunteer unit; and the PW was never told to pose as a volunteer in event of capture.
The 42nd Army has not received amphibious training and did not participate in the invasion of HAINAN Island.
Rifleman and Mortar Crewman received 70,000 Manchurian Yuan per month in the 42nd Army.
PW never heard of the Iron & Steel Brigade.
No CCF units have Soviet equipment, according to PW.
PW never heard of the CCF having paratroops.
Chinese Nationalist Army soldiers and equipment are integrated into the CCF units capturing them.
PW’s Regiment and Battalion commanders told their men that the CCF is fighting in KOREA because US and ROK forces north of the 38th parallel constitute a threat to CHINA’s security.
