2. ASSESSMENT:
PW was extremely helpful, above average intelligence frank and, within the limits of his knowledge the report is believed to be accurate.
Physcial condition - Alert, healthy.
Attitude was some what apprehensive but soon relaxed. Claimed not to be a member of the Communist Party. Owned and operated own trucking and taxi company from Jul 46 until induction.

3. TACTICAL INFORMATION:
Chronology:
19 Jul 50: Inducted into 487th AA Regt, P'YONGYANG.
3 Aug 50: Promoted to Jr Lt, 487 AA Regt.
19 Oct 50: Captured by 1st ROK Div at P'YONGYANG.

Original Unit Organization and Strength:
487th AA Regt - About 1,000 men. Strength of subordinate units unknown. Regimental Hq, Regimental Signal Co and four gun Bns. 1st Bn was organized into 3 batteries of 3 plats each. One plat in each battery was a signal platoon and the other two were gun platoons. The 1st Bn was armed with 12 x 85mm AA Guns, two to a gun plat. 2nd and 3rd Bns were organized the same way except that each platoon had 2 x 37mm AA Guns, a total of 12 guns per Bn. (Two Bns of 12 guns each giving a total of 24 x 37mm AA Guns)
The 4th Bn had the same organization but had a total of 36 x 12.7mm AA machine guns (12 to a battery).
In the Regiment there were 72 trucks and 2 passenger vehicles.
This was the original organization and also the one used for combat. Subsequent changes in equipment were due to battle losses.
Replacement Unit was carried in the regiment, and its strength was included in the 1,000 men.
Communications units used telephones and radios only. No radar was used.

Equipment: (As of 19 Oct)
4 x 85mm guns; 12 x 37mm guns, 20 x 12,7mm MG, and 24 vehicles.
Unit was ordered to SINANJU (at mouth of CHONGCHONG River).
POW heard after capture that unit lost all equipment and fell back to SINUIJU.

Unit Duty:
The mission of the 487th AA Regt was protection of P'YONGYANG against air attack. It was the only unit so assigned.

Personalities:
Regimental CO - YON, Bang Soo, Lt Col. Trained in MANCHURIA.
4th Bn Co - SOO, Pong In (過鳳仁). Capt (SOI).

Morale and Propaganda:
Morale of regiment was low.
POW listened to Voice of America Korean broadcasts before induction. Was imprisoned for 10 days and radio was confiscated for listened for 10 days and radio was confiscated for listening in 1949. Had seen surrender leaflets but did not keep one.

4 GENERAL INFORMATION:
Guns were old and worn, required much care but were accurate in fire.
Transportation was new. Losses of trucks were due to air attacks.
Regt had ammo point at KNARI (间里) near SUNAN (수난) N 39° 10' E 126° 15'. MSR was SINUIJU-SUNAN RR.
