10 Aug 50: PW heard that the 23rd Bn was attached to the 104th Security Regt together with the 1st, 14th, and 21st Bns. 23rd Bn CO was promoted to C/S of the 104th Security Regt and the C/S of the 23rd Bn became Bn CO. The 23rd Bn departed MUJU on foot with orders to proceed to MIRYNG (密陽) via KOCH'ANG.
14 Aug 50: Arrived at SINBAN-NI (新反里) and immediately departed after receiving orders to proceed to UIRYONG (宜寜) instead of MIRYANG.
18 Aug 50: Arrived at UIRYONG and received orders stating that the 23rd and the 14th Bns of the 104th Security Regt were now temporarily attached to the 603rd Motorcycle Regt. The 23rd Bn was ordered to deploy along the NAKTONG River between UIRYONG and CHINJU and prepare defensive positions.
23 Aug 50: The 1st and 3rd Rifle Cos of the 23rd Bn departed UIRYONG Area for KOSONG (固城) after receiving orders from the 104th Security Regt Hqs which was located 8 km SE of SACH'ON.

2 Sep 50: Arrived 3 km East of SACH'ON (KUAMNI) (亀岩里) and remained there for 21 days. During this period, the 1st Rifle Co was ordered to collect weapons on the battleground and they collected the following weapons: 150 rifles (assortment of US M-1, US carbines, 6-5mm MEIJI 38, 7.7mm type 99), two (2) US HMGs, five (5) US BARs and three (3) US mortars. All these weapons were forwarded to the Regt Hq for processing.
22 Sep 50: Bn arrived at PONGCHI-RI (鳳峠里) but was unable to advance further after receiving information about the landing of UN forces at PAEDUN-NI. Bn made efforts to contact Regt Hq but was unsuccessful. In the meantime, Bn received information from the 6th Div Hq that the 104th Security Regt'l Hq was in CHINJU. The 23rd Bn immediately proceeded towards CHINJU.
24 Sep 50: Arrived at the outskirts of CHINJU and received orders from the 104th Security Regt'l Hq to prepare a defensive position along the south bank of the NAKTONG River but the staff of the 23rd Bn refused to obey orders and decided to cross the river. The bridge was already destroyed, so the 23rd Bn swam across the river and entered the city of CHINJU. The were unable to locate the 104th Security Regt Hq in CHINJU and the 23rd Bn became completely disorganized. PW proceeded towards KOCH'ANG with a group of 20 men.
26 Sep 50: Stragglers joined the group and approximately 150 men arrived at PYONGONG MYON (屛谷面) via SANCH'ONG. The 23rd Bn CO was also in the group and he ordered the men to proceed to OKCH'ON (沃川) in small groups. PW immediately departed with a group of 100 men.
30 Sep 50: PW arrived at SECH'ON (細川) with a group of 70 men after learning that OKCH'ON was occupied by US forces. All members of the Volunteer Corps (South Koreans) were released from the group and 8 officers and 6 NKPA EM held a conference on a mountain after reading a US propaganda leaflet which was picked up by one of the officers. They decided that it was useless to retreat further and surrendered to the US forces.

4. GENERAL:
PW believes that USSR will probably assist NKPA by direct or indirect means if the UN forces decide to cross the 38° parallel because he heard that the Soviet troops were deployed along the 38° parallel when he was ordered to retreat (as of 24 Sep 50) from the CHINJU Area.
